Chapter Six: Love Of My Life

Ash met up with Serena and Rose later that day. They didn't suspect a thing. That is until they asked him about where he was.

"Where did you even go?" Rose asked.

Ash didn't expect this, so he lied.

"To buy drugs."

"WHA-WHA-WHAT!?" Rose exclaimed.

"Really, where were you?" Serena asked.

"Buying drugs."

"Ok..." Rose trailed off.

They returned to the pokemon center and relaxed.

For the next few days, they traveled from city to city watching Serena compete in the final showcases. But now, they are at the last stop on their journey.

One night in bed, our favorite couple was chatting as they couldn't fall asleep.

"Well, this little journey of ours is coming to an end." Ash noted.

"Yeah..."

"Then, I guess it's back to Kanto for me. Until next performing season."

"That's going to suck. I'll miss you."

"I will miss you too." Ash said as they kissed.

Serena cuddled up to Ash and they managed to fall asleep.

The Next Night

In honor of the final performance they all went out to dinner. For Ash and Rose, it was to celebrate Serena's achievements. It was the same for Serena, but it was more for keeping her mind off the performance.

She was nervous because if she lost this, her streak of wins since becoming Kalos Queen would be over. And also she would no longer be Kalos Queen, as this was the final performance of the season. The new Queen would be chosen or she would remain.

They were now walking out of the restaurant.

"Are you ready Serena?" Ash asked his girlfriend.

"Yeah. I can do this." Serena confirmed.

"We believe in you." Rose said.

Serena smiled, "Thanks."

As they walked to the venue, people wished her good luck, and told her she was going to win. This gave her even more confidence than she already had.

They said their goodbyes and Serena went through the performers entrance. Ash and Rose took their seats and waited through the performances.

Serena wasn't performing with the others. She is going to perform against the winner of the main competition.

"And now, please cast your votes for this round!" Monsieur Pierre asked the crowd.

The majority of the votes went to this one girl named Jessica. She was really good.

Ash and Rose didn't vote for any of them.

"Serena's actually going to have some competition here." Ash thought.

Ash zoned out for a few seconds. He was playing with a small box in his pocket, until he heard Pierre announce "Please welcome Kalos Queen Serena!"

Serena gave it her all. It was her most intricate and gorgeous performance yet. And the crowd loved it. The applause didn't stop for four minutes.

And then it was Jessica's turn.

It was honestly disappointing considering her earlier performance.

The applause was quieter and shorter. Jessica looked crushed. She seemed to know it was over.

Once again, cast your votes!" Pierre asked.

Ash and Rose obviously voted for Serena. After the last votes were cast, it got silent. Dead silent.

"And the winner is...Kalos Queen Serena!"

Serena smiled softly. She walked over to the very disappointed Jessica and gave her a handshake.

"You did great." Serena complimented.

"Thank you. You did great too."

After Serena returned to the group out back, they began walking back to the Pokèmon Center.

They congratulated her, and they walked in mostly silence. Serena was holding Ash's hand. She wanted to hold onto his arm. But as she was adjusting, her hand brushed his pocket. She felt the top of the box from earlier. Serena didn't think anything of it.

They arrived at the Pokèmon Center. Ash told Serena that he wanted to talk to her alone. Rose went inside. They walked slowly down the path until they stopped and looked at the river that ran by them.

Ash leaned on the railing, "Beautiful night, huh?"

Serena joined him.

"Yep. And I get to spend it with the best man I've ever known."

Ash blushed.

"I love you so much..."

"I love you too."

They stared into each others eyes and softly kissed.

"Hey...remember when we were sitting in your room, talking about the future?" Ash asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"You said that one day we could be married...kids...all that. And that you'd like that."

Ash and Serena were both blushing very hard.

"Well what I'm trying to say is..." He took her hand.

"What are you doing?" She asked.

He got on one knee and took her hand. He also reached into this pocket and pulled out a little black box.

"Oh my Arceus, he's not? Is he?" Serena thought as she blushed even harder.

Ash opened the box.

"Will you marry me? I'll love you forever and ever until the day I die."

She started to shed a few tears of joy.

"Y-Yes of course..." Serena said slipping the ring on.

They stood there in the moonlight kissing for what seemed like hours, though it was only about a minute.

They made their way back to the Pokèmon Center and cleaned up.

They were tired, especially Serena from the stress of potentially not winning, so they went straight to bed.
