Narrator POV
Chongyun dragged Xingqiu over to Wanmin restaurant.
"Chongyun! Where are we going?" Xingqiu struggled a bit to keep up with Chongyun's pace.
"We're going to Wanmin." He said as they arrived.
"Oh! Xingqiu and Chongyun! Just the two I was looking for! It's all finished!" Xiangling popped up from behind the counter, going back to the kitchen to get the cake and coming back.
"What's all this for?" Xingqiu tilted his head.
Xiangling placed the white cake onto the table. It was decorated with orange swirls and carrots painted in icing with small edible decors, each shaped into a carrot.
Xingqiu looked at the cake.
"A double carrot-cake! Just how you like it!" Xiangling was beaming.
"Eugh.. carrots.." Xingqiu made a disgusted face.
"Huh? But Chongyun said you loved carrots?" Xiangling looked quite confused. They both looked over to Chongyun who was holding in laughter.
"Happy birthday Xingqiu." Chongyun calmed down a bit and looked at Xingqiu.
"Wooow. Thanks for the birthday cake." Xingqiu huffed, clearly not amused.
Chongyun calmed down and got up.
He dug through his pockets, looking for something. He found what he was looking for and pulled out a small clear box wrapped in a pale blue ribbon. Inside the box, a pillow small enough to fit at the bottom of the box was placed with a delicate cryo rose. Chongyun handed the box to Xingqiu.
"Here's your actual gift." Chongyun looked away, the tips of his ears red.
Xingqiu looked at the delicate flower. He grabbed it gently.
"It's beautiful... thank you, Chongyun." He smiled at him.
"Ah-- there's one more thing. Here." He held out a silver ring. Xingqiu's name was carved on the top of the ring with a small heart. Chongyun grabbed Xingqiu's free hand and put it onto his ring finger. He dug through his pocket and put a similar ring on. "Now we're matching." He smiled.
Xingqiu's face turned red. "Thank you so much Chongyun.." He smiled.
"Alrighty! Who's ready for a big feast!" Xiangling beamed happily and rested her arms around the back of their necks.
And then they celebrated Xingqiu's birthday.
