Tide was born to their parents, Lyonsia and Poseidon, only a few days before Poseidon passed away. Their animus powers were discovered around two years later, during a memorial for Poseidon, when glass and lights and fish exploded, causing a panic as everyone suspected an attack. However little Tide remained calm, and when questioned, all they would say was "I was sad, and the ocean was sad too."
Thus the difficulties started. Tide was the only known animus at the time, and was constantly being asked for spells. Their mother sheltered them for a long time until she eventually couldn't deal with it any longer. She sent Tide to Jade Mountain Academy when they were 7, hoping they would get a fresh start.
