Chapter 3

Set up

"What  do you want Nathaniel I have nothing to say to you... I would appreciate it if you left."

"Emma please. let's talk about this, the catering service called me this morning you can't actually be serious."

"Nathaniel this is not the time or place to be talking about this, this is my place of work, and I don't know what delusional world you live in where you didn't think this would be my reaction but newsflash it is. You can't cheat on someone and expect them to act like it never happened."

Whispers filled the office as Emma looked around. She saw the glances as everyone quickly busied themselves with work. His face was filled with a  guilty expression as he placed a banquet of roses on her desk.

"Look, I didn't mean to embarrass you I just came down here to apologize."

"Yh? well you did and I've been allergic to them for the past 23 years so I don't want your stupid roses or any other gift, just leave me alone."

*a couple hours  later*

"Emma stone?"

"Yes"

"Our new boss would like to have a word with you, please follow me this way."

She fumbled with her fingers as she walked into the elevator. The light elevator music played as she began to get nervous. She had only heard rumors about the new boss but had never seen him in person. As the elevator doors opened she took a deep breath before opening the door infront of her.

"Mr. Grey, Emma is here to see you."

"Ok, send her in."

Emma entered his office and gasped as she stared at the view, showcasing the ocean in a far distance, partially covered by buildings. She could bet how beautiful it would be at night lit up by the city.

"Emma Stone is that correct? Your former boss had alot of good things to say about your work performance over the years so I'm thinking of giving you a promotion to be my personal assistant. I want to see how good you are at your job first hand.

I will be taking care of business in Italy next week, you will have to book the plan tickets, the hotel and make sure everything is in order, up for the job?"

"Oh my God, yes sir this is such a great opportunity I won't let you down."

"Oh and Emma, I assume that the incident that happened with you earlier this morning won't happen again."

"Yes sir"

As she made her way back to her desk she couldn't help but smile, today wasn't such a bad day after all. She made up her mind that nothing was going to get in the way of this new promotion, or so she thought.
