Chapter 3

Authors Note: I'm so sorry! this is posted much later, and much shorter than I intended! The next chapter should be this bit from Katerina's pov. It'll include stuff about how the reader fits into the video game. 

I was forced to wait outside Katarina's room while Geordo, the maids, and Katarina's parents fussed over her for a while. Prince Alan had been taken by a butler to attend to some lessons that he had yet to complete. Not that I minded much though, while I was enjoying his company when I put down the book I had been at my favorite part. I was perfectly content sitting on the bench just outside of the room reading my book where I would not have to hear the annoying girl's screeching voice.

I turned my head to the door as seemingly everyone but Katarina's maid Anne and Prince Geordo. One of the maids turned to me "Miss, Once Prince Geordo is done talking to Miss Katarina you will be permitted to go inside and talk with her.

I went back to reading my book for another few minutes waiting for Prince Geordo to be done talking to Katarina. Soon enough he exited the room. When he saw me he gave me a smile and a nod; a smile so clearly faked I almost visibly cringed, but managed to refrain. I stood up to enter the beast's den when something made me pause at the door.

A few moments later"WHAT?!?" a shrill screech pierces the air.

I knocked on the door, not at all prepared for what happens next. When I enter the room Katarina and I make direct eye contact. As we stared at each other neither of us dared to look away first as tensions filled the room. Then she abruptly stood up and walked over to me with a strange look in her eye. I was completely ready for her to tell me I looked ugly or something, but she said something that caught me off guard.

"I'm sorry"

"W-what"

"I know it doesn't mean much after how terrible I've been to you, but I really am sorry." She elaborated.

I didn't know how to respond. She was staring me down with such sincerity I felt the need to look somewhere else. As I look around the room I catch a glimpse of Anne who seems just as startled as I am. Finally, I decided how to respond.

"You put me through a lot you know?"

She cringes "I know"

"I don't think I can forgive you quite yet, but I can be more open to actually be friends with you." I turn my head to meet her gaze once more.

"I would love nothing more... on that note... do you know where any snacks are? I'm starving!" As if to emphasize her point her stomach lets out a growl, and I almost burst out laughing.

"Lady Katerina! If you were hungry you should have said so sooner!" Anne says "Follow me and we'll get you some food, Lady (y/n) your parents wanted you to go to the entrance as soon as you finished talking to Lady Katerina. I believe they are waiting for you in the entryway. Would you like for me to walk you down?"

"I'll be alright Anne thank you" I turn back to Katerina "I guess I'll see you next time."

"Can't wait"
