As I stared out the window I noticed it was unusually calm outside. Yeah the window whistled a bit as the wind came against it but that was only because it wasn’t closed properly. It couldn’t be that windy I thought to myself as I continued to stare outside.
I could see the tops of the houses across the street from where I sat. I was on the second floor in the commons at school writing in my journal when I had the urge to look out the window. Now here I am looking out the window trying to find what made me so want to look outside.
Nothing seemed out of place; a couple walking, a few cars idled waiting for school to end and some smokers in the front. Same as every other day but only today was the start of the second semester but that wasn’t saying much.
I looked at my phone waiting...but for what? “I didn’t get it right on yesterday so kiss our tomorrow’s goodbye. Baby your love is like a blanket, I don’t know what I’d do without it,” sang my ringtone. “Weird...” I muttered. As soon as the ring ended I grabbed my phone.
“Hello” I said into it waiting for a reply. It was my ex best friend Merissa Kelting.
“What do you want?” I snapped at her.
“What...Wait no? Uh uh, I don’t think so. You can’t just spring this on me and in case you have forgotten we aren’t friends anymore!” I all but yelled into the phone. I took a deep breath and said calmly.
“Merissa, honestly I don’t care” and I really didn’t. “You expect me to do this for you? After what happened I don’t think I can forgive you Merissa.” I know technically it wasn’t her fault but she had a lot to do with it and I wasn’t going to let her off the hook that easily.
“Why?” I asked her. “Why do you want me to go there with—” She cut me off and I knew she would. She gets impatient when she doesn’t get what she wants. But I’m not giving in I told myself.
“Merissa!—” I snapped. “Go. By. Your. Self.” I said irritated and ended the call.
Frustrated I raked my hand through my long hair. Merissa has been my best friend ever since I moved to Anankons Lake and I feel like I should forgive her but I still can’t get over the fact that she did...what she did.
But I’ll tell you about that later.
I went back to my journal and briefly looked over my entry before snapping it shut and putting it in my bag. I stopped to admire my bag which I got the week before from my Ex boyfriend Mitch. Mitch and I dated for two years and four and a half months but the last three weeks of our relationship was getting bumpy—no not bumpy... jagged...like every time we tried to move forward in our relationship we ended up getting hurt. So I decided to break up with him because I couldn’t handle the hurt anymore. So now we’ve been broken up for...a week officially today.
I smiled to myself, honestly I thought I have never I felt so happy in well two years. After putting my journal back in my bag I sat back then got up right away. Shit, I have to pee. I got up and made my way to the girls’ bathroom and did my business. After washing and drying my hands I pulled my cosmetic shit out of my bag as well as my phone and decided to turn it on again. Waiting for it to load I looked at myself in the mirror and ran my hands through my hair again. I had impossibly straight jet black hair that fell down past my butt. I loved my hair but sometimes I want to curl it and I can’t curl my hair because it doesn’t curl. I looked at myself in the mirror, inspecting my face and body; I have Gothic looking skin but people say it suits me well. I have vivid green eyes and peach coloured lips (when I’m not wearing lip gloss or lip stick). Even though I’m only 5’4 a lot of my friends think I’m intimidating. Still looking at myself in the mirror I reached for my phone. Out of the corner of my eye I could see two girls who looked freakishly a lot like me except one had vivid purple eyes and the other had icy blue eyes. Both of them had waist long jet black hair. The girl with the blue eyes stared at me in a strange way while the girl with the purple eyes glared at me.
