Abbey's POV
When I awoke I was in a bed, and it took a minute to realize that it wasn't my own. Looking around, I remembered that I was in the hotel, but I didn't see any of my stuff in the dark room. Suddenly it dawned on me that I must be in the boys' room. Which reminded me, again, that I was dating One Direction's own Zayn Malik. I don't know if I'll ever get used to this!
I pushed myself into a sitting position and reached for my phone, but grasped a handful of air instead. That's right, Owen had my phone. Sighing, I pushed myself out of bed and realized I had been stripped down to my bra and underwear. I shivered in the cold, looking around for something to throw on. I infered from my surroundings that I was in the small room where Liam and Niall had slept. All I saw was a suitcase filled with their clothes, so I grabbed something, hoping to God that it was clean.
I stepped into the main room wearing what I assumed were Niall's boxers and a way-too-big plaid shirt that I guessed was Liam's. Only Liam and Louis were there. I shot them a questioning look, which they returned.
"Where are your clothes?" Louis asked.
"That's a good question," I laughed, sitting down on the couch and wrapping my arms around my legs.
"Is that my shirt?" Liam demanded, feeling the flannel fabric that covered my arms.
"Yeah, and Niall's boxers. It's not my fault I woke up and my clothes were missing. By the way, where are the others?" I questioned, looking around.
"Let's see...Niall and Zayn went to get dinner, your mom went 'out' for something, Harry decided to wander around and see how many fans he attracts–"
"He's trying to set a record," Louis interrupted.
"And Kaylie's at the gym," Liam concluded.
"Dinner?" I asked, referring to his first comment. "What time is it?!"
"About five, love," Louis chuckled, and my eyes grew wide.
"FIVE?! You've gotta be kidding me, Tomlinson!" I leaped up, but Liam grabbed my arm.
"Whoa there, I've been put on Abbey duty. You've got to stay here." He stood up and placed his strong hands on my shoulders, directing me back to the couch.
"What? Says who?" I demanded, trying to break free from Liam's hold.
I heard a suppressed snicker from behind me, and Louis spoke up. "Let's see...you mom, Zayn, Kaylie, the rest of us guys, Dr. Karet..."
I rolled my eyes and plopped back down on the couch, leaning on Liam's shoulder. "Hey Louis," I called sweetly. "Can you get me some water?"
"Get it yourself!" he retorted, putting his socked feet on the coffee table.
"No can do, buddy. I have to stay here. Well, I do according to my mom, Zayn, Kaylie, the rest of you guys, Dr. Karet..."
"Oh, shut it!" he grumbled, lumbering over to the refrigerator and getting out a bottle of water. He tossed it to me, but Liam caught it inches in front of my face.
"Louis, not funny," Liam warned, handing me the water bottle from which I took a sip.
"Sorry Abbey," mumbled Louis as he slumped down onto the couch adjacent to us.
We heard the click of a room key and the door opened to reveal Kaylie and Harry, both returning from their tasks. "Abbey!" Harry yelled, rushing over to the couch. "You're awake!"
"How do you know? I could be sleep talking. Or better yet, you're sleeping and this is all a dream. You'll wake up to find that none of this ever happened, it's the morning of your X-Factor audition and–"
"I think he gets it," Kaylie giggled, rolling her eyes.
An hour later, Zayn and Niall returned, accompanied by my mom. She carried nothing but her purse, which was just like her. Go shopping for hours, and come back empty-handed. However, Zayn and Niall were far from empty-handed, with two large bags of Chinese food each.
"What took you so long?" Harry asked.
"We couldn't find a Nando's!" Niall exclaimed. "Not one! I mean Chinese food's good, but I can't believe you guys don't have a Nando's around here..."
"Um, Niall? Hate to break it to you, but there are no Nando's restaurants in America. Period," Liam stated, trying to hold back a chuckle. "We went over this last year."
"Yeah, but I though after my letter to President Obama..." He looked lost for words, like a puppy suddenly torn from its family when it's adopted.
Zayn messed up Niall's hair. "I don't think our wittle Nialler understands the economy," he teased, unloading one of the bags of food. Harry and Louis got up to help, and my mother and Kaylie took their places on the couches. I kept leaning against Liam's shoulder, too comfortable to move. I wasn't attracted to Liam in a romantic way, but he was one of those true, genuine people you instantly trust.
"C'mon, Abbey!" Zayn called from the kitchen, now having unloaded a countless number of Chinese food containers. "Come on come over here, over here, come on come over here...yeah!" I blushed and finally worked up the strength to get up and sit at the table by Zayn. "C'mon, c'mon, and dance with me baby!" he sang.
Niall laughed and sat across from me, dumping a whole container of pork lo mein on his plate. I grabbed a container of fried rice, putting a large scoop on my own plate. I also spooned a large amount of shrimp and vegetables, along with beef lo mein. I added a cream cheese puff as a final touch. I glanced up at him, smirking.
Niall stared at my plate, then looked into my eyes daringly. "I see we've got a fighter. Let's make this interesting. Loser has to sleep on the floor?" He sounded much more confident than he had yesterday, although there was still a hint of caution in his voice.
I nodded. "You're on!"
My mom stood up quickly. "Abbey, I don't think you should be sleeping on the floor with your concussion."
"Mom, it's all just for fun!" I argued, shooing her away. But Niall had other ideas.
"Actually, Abbey, your mom's right. How about we...oh, I got it! If I finish before you, then you have to go everywhere in the guys' clothes." He looked at the flannel shirt that I was wearing. "But if I lose, then I have to wear your clothes!"
"But you wouldn't fit!" I exclaimed, referring to our four-inch height difference and his muscular build.
"Then we..." Kaylie chimed, a mysterious glint in her eyes as she looked around at the other four guys. "Get to go on a little shopping trip." The smile on Niall's lips had disappeared. I giggled, realizing that he had been counting on the fact of my clothes not fitting to get him out of it if he lost.
I nodded. "Sounds fair." Louis rushed over to the table.
"On your mark...get set....go!" Niall and I both dug into our food, and I made a promise to myself that I would eat somewhat civilly. After I finished my rice, I glanced up to see that Niall was almost done with his whole plate. I started eating more slowly as I watched Niall finish off his lo mein.
"How?" I asked simply. "I just don't get you, Niall Horan." He laughed that adorable laugh of his.
The rest of the guys, Kaylie, and my mom sat down around the room with plates of food, since the table was smallish. I made myself comfy on the couch next to Zayn and finished my food, leaning on his shoulder. I had no idea how I was so tired, considering I had just woken up a few hours before. I looked around for a clock. Upon finding none, I closed my eyes, letting the beating of Zayn's heart lull me to sleep.
