The Tale of a Freshman Demigod

First Class

" Are all freshman here?" Asks a lady with sunglasses.

" Why does she wear those sunglasses?" I ask Melody.

" Her name is Ms. Gorgon for a reason," Melody says and winks. I suddenly get what she means. Gorgons can turn mortals to stone according to myth. I guess us being half mortal counts. So these glasses make sure that we don't get turned into stone. Clever.

" I get it now," I say winking back. After attendance has been taken, it was time to start class.

" So, you found out that you're all demigods. This comes with the great responsibility of going on quests gods send you on and powers to help you with those quests," Ms. Gorgon says. The classroom erupts in cheer. " This class can't be taken lightly or for granted. Don't expect that you'll be able to catch onto this right away, don't think that your power is better than everyone else's, and definitely don't use your powers dangerously," Ms. Gorgon is is interrupted by a boy I don't know, laughing with his friends. " Mr. Benson, if you don't follow the last thing I said, you could potentially be suspended or even expelled!" Ms. Gorgon shouts to the boy.

The boy looks a bit taken aback, but then just smirks at Ms. Gorgon in reply. Ms. Gorgon rolls her eyes.

"As I was saying, but was so rudely interrupted," Ms. Gorgon starts to say looking at ' Mr. Benson' evilly. He just puts his hands up in surrender. I roll my eyes. " Most of you with the same godly parent, have similar powers. I would like you to make a group by godly parents in the labeled spaces," says Ms. Gorgon.

" Bye," I whisper to a Melody as I go to the area labeled Hades. It turns out I have a lot of sisters and brothers. Some are fully goth, others are like me. I smile at them. Only a few smile back. Why do my siblings have to be so dark? I look around at some families rejoicing, but the Hades clan is just awkwardly saying hello. This should be an interesting class. I think to myself.
