4- October's Arrival

It was October. From outside the window, leaves brushed passed the grounds. The air smelled crisp and the Black Lake waters crashed violently against the shoreline.

I was sitting on the empty dock, feet dangling and submerged underwater. The temperature was warmer than usual for a fall afternoon, reminding me of summer.

On my right, a large pile of homework sat, waiting to be completed. After all of the fun I'd been having I neglected my homework until the day before it was due. I'm a pro procrastinator.

As much as I didn't want to began, I picked up my first piece of paper and scribbled the answers that I knew. I then picked up the next. Over and over and over.

It went on like this for a few hours. Throughout that time, I went from sitting, to lying on my back, and finally on my stomach. An enormous sigh of relief escaped my lips as I set my last piece of completed parchment down.

"Doing okay?

"You look exhausted."

I turned to see the Weasley twins, their hands stacked high with wrapped candy and toys. My eyebrows furrowed as they dropped the assortment onto the dock, sighing themselves as they plopped down on either side of me.

"Considering I just did three hours of homework, I guess you could say I'm a little sleepy." They chuckled before I said, "What's all of this?"

"These are a few of our inventions," Fred proudly declared, waving his arms at the messy objects.

"We were going around and testing them on people," George continued. "Until we noticed you sitting all alone out here."

"Aw, my knight and shining armors come to save me from boredom and loneliness."

"Want to try one?" Fred asked, holding up a pink taffy-like piece of candy from their pile.

"Nope."

"How about you come prank Umbridge with us?" George practically begged.

That option sounded more enticing. I sat there, thinking for a moment and building up their suspense before finally agreeing.

"Yes!" Fred shouted

"We got the Y/n L/n to pull a prank with us."

"We are honored," Fred continued while bowing slightly, George mimicking him immediately.

The two boys grabbed each of my arms and hoisted me up, levitating my papers and their assortment of treats and trinkets with wingardium leviosa while I laughed at their antics.

Prior to the prank, we dropped off our stash of belongings and headed towards our Defense Against the Dark Arts room, where Umbridge was located. Disregarding the adrenaline pumping in my veins, I stepped into the classroom, a few unknown gadgets in our hands.

Clicks of familiar pink heels sounded and I ducked under a table with Fred. George slithered into an empty cabinet and we waited for the door to open or the pacing to come to a halt.

The table seemed smaller underneath. With Fred and his long legs, we were compacted against one another, feeling each other's hot breath against our necks. I shivered — but not in the way I would if it were Draco. The goosebumps came from nerves and excitement. Not Fred.

He seemed to notice the slight tension growing in the space between us so he shifted away from me, causing me to let out a breath I was unaware of being held in.

When no more footsteps were heard inside our professor's office, we slowly creeped to the outside of her door. George visually counted to three with his hands and we tossed fog bombs into her office along with mini fireworks.
