DWAPAR YUG,

A few days after Draupadi's wedding with all the five Pandavas

"You are focusing more on them rather than yourself, Mitr..." I placed a hand on the Prince's shoulder.

"What do you mean?" Duryodhan asked pacing around with stress evident in his face.

"You always try to put the Pandavas down, but have you ever noticed they never give so much importance to you?" I questioned

Duryodhan's face turned redder,

"I'm only asking you to ignore them as they ignore you...they're actually nothing in front of you..." I said picking up a glass of water and handed over to him.

"What do you mean by, 'they're nothing in front of you'...?" Duryodhan glared at me for a few seconds

"You know what I mean...you are not giving importance to your own happiness...you are focused on hurting them..." I said making him sit.

"When the whole world despised and ill treated me for learning archery, you were the one who encouraged me by saying that you like to see the person's skill, not their caste..." I knelt down

"Aren't you better than them in every perspective?" I asked

Duryodhan's features calmed for a while.

"Mitr Duryodhan, may I ask you a few questions?"

He nodded a gentle yes and looked away,

"Why does Mamashree ask you to rely on him to defeat the Pandavas? Doesn't he trust you enough? Does he feel that you are not competent enough to defeat the Pandavas?" I questioned

Duryodhan looked at me agitatedly.

"I've no intention to offend you...but whatever I said was nothing but the truth. You are better than the Pandavas in all aspects...you just have to prove yourself in front of your father and Mahamahim Bhishm...that's it!" I said washing the fruits.

"Mitr! Why are you doing this...the servants will do all that..." Duryodhan held my hand stopping me.

"Nothing is inferior in this world...except for our thoughts that have to be reshaped..." I muttered and cut the fruits and handed them over to him.

I few minutes of silence followed.

"What do you think, Mitr...Mamashree doesn't trust me enough?"

"Well...I don't want to create a rift between both Mamashree and you just like he has created a rift among the brothers..." I said

"When did he create a rift?...wait...the Pandavas are not my brothers!" He shouted

"I did not mention them..." I chuckled looking at him. Duryodhan looked away once again, frowning.

My face grew colder as I saw a set of dice next to me.

"But remember Mitr...I will definitely kill Mamashree if he does something really wrong...and that's a promise...you know Karn does not go back on his words..." I said

"I'm ready..." Duryodhan finally said

"For?"

"I'm ready to go to Yudi....Um...that...eldest son of Kunti..." he looked away into the blank sky

"You mean..." I looked at him approvingly

"Umm...yeah...I was wrong...I should not have planned...the Lakshagriha...because...It was very cowardly of me..." Duryodhan said plainly.

I left out a sigh of relief. It took me days and days of lecture to make him realize his mistake.

Umm...I'm ready to go to...that Yudi...Bratashree Yudishtir's rajasuya yagnya...
