Werewolves, like most things in media are misrepresented. Entertaining yes, but the information is mostly false. In reality, there are 4 different types of Werewolf; each with 1 of 3 shifting states. The types of Werewolf are genetic, dormant, experimental and cursed. The shifting states are mental, complete and partial.

Genetic: someone who has developed certain evolutionary genetics which allowed them to be a Werewolf. This is the rarest kind of werewolf in existence today. They are born with active werewolf genes that allow them to master their abilities much earlier than other werewolves. They also have the ability to control their shifting like a Primordial. Most of the time, they are either Primordials or descendants of Primordials.

What is a Primordial Werewolf?
A Primordial Werewolf is an "Original" Werewolf. They are either direct descendants of the very first Werewolves or are one of the very first Werewolves to exist. They have the purest Werewolf blood and as a result have little to no limitations as a Werewolf.

Dormant: someone who has dormant Werewolf genetics which most likely will never be activated. There have only been 2 recorded dormant activations in history. Both of which had Primordial blood. They are the least deadly type of Werewolf since they can live their entire lives as human not knowing they are of Werewolf descent.

Experimental: someone who becomes a werewolf through any sort of experimentation. This type of werewolf, although a werewolf, is not considered to be a "True" werewolf but instead a lesser, bastardized version of one. There are some packs who accept them but the majority will outcast or hunt them for sport depending on their traditions.

Cursed: someone who is a werewolf as a result of being cursed by someone else. This kind of werewolf will most likely have active werewolf genes. However, if their entire family and/or bloodline is cursed, the majority of them will start off with dormant genetics. These genetics can be activated in several different ways. Spells and potions are useless in this case. An ancient ritual, a specific resulted death and extreme excessive trauma are the most effective ways to activate a dormant werewolf curse.

Mental Shifters: are Werewolves who show no physical signs of shifting. They are only capable of shifting mentally.

Complete Shifters: are Werewolves who show every sign of shifting. They can fully shift both mentally and physically.

Partial Shifters: are Werewolves who show only partial signs of shifting. They can completely shift mentally and only partially shift physically.

How to survive Werewolves:

- Werewolves with dormant genetics will often have slight temperamental flares but are overall no more dangerous than a human.

- Try to keep them calm. They can be quick to anger and find it difficult to calm themselves down. If they do become angry and you are NOT someone they trust or care about, stand your ground but don't provoke them. If you run they will hunt you and if you try to help you may end up dead. If they do trust and/or care about you, you can try to calm them down. How you do it will depend on the Werewolf and the relationship you have with that Werewolf.

- Be sure you are calm as well. Werewolves find it easier to remain calm and feel more safe when the people they are with are calm.

- Don't annoy them. This can result in someone getting hurt as Werewolves only look human most of the time. They are predatory creatures who rely mainly on their survival instincts. Annoying them would prove you to be a liability in the wild and they only have so much patience for it.

- Don't allow them to push. All Werewolf relations rely on dominance and rank so a Werewolf will attempt to influence you as they please. It's important that you let them know you are NOT a part of their pack.

- Respect their status. A Werewolf's status is often their pride. If you insult their rank in any way they will become angry and most likely lash out in one way or another depending on how they were raised.

- Let them know they can trust you. Werewolves are often introverted creatures who only enjoy the company of their pack and their allies. They don't trust easily but do respect reliability.

- Mates. I noticed that quite a bit of humans desire a Werewolf Mate. Which is fine, I get it. Not a good idea though. Werewolves are impulsive and, as previously stated, it is difficult to calm them down. Being Mated with any creature other than another Werewolf has resulted in a history of jealousy, severe relationship issues, extreme agitation and even death between one or both Mates. This is because the Mate bond between a Werewolf and another creature is NOT as strong as a Mate bond between 2 Werewolves. A Werewolf being Mated with another connects both of them mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Whereas a Werewolf being Mated with another creature only connects them mentally and physically.

Please note that Werewolves are NOT stuck up sociopaths. They have a mindset and physiology which allows them to survive in nearly any environment they are faced with. Because of this they can come off as cold hearted and cruel when in reality they are caring, grounded beings.
