THEO'S REDEMPTION

Chapter 11

After everyone is  settled, Mark ask Theo to see him in the library.

He sighed because  he know what Mark wants him. He is not ready to share the information his men gathered. He need more proof so that  there's no loose ends. He carried a folder which contains the partial report of their investigation. This is enough to show  Mark and prove that he didn't withheld any information from the intel.  He know Mark is oblige to report to his superior and he was thankful that he told him in advance so can he can conceal some vital information regarding the involvement of his uncle and cousin. He has plans for them, the government cannot touch what was he is planning on getting his revenge towards the culprit of his family's murder. It's not an easy task when you know that the people you have known wouldn't do anything to hurt a member of a family instead  would betray them for the sake of wealth and position.

Glad your here, I've been waiting for your information. Is there any progress of your men's investigation? My superior is asking for any updates and I haven't told them anything yet. My ass has been on fire as they told me I've been withholding information because of my ties with you. The threatened me to withdraw my involvement on this case and there are some people eager to take my place.  They are pestering me to to make it fast, you know there's a war going on in the middle east. This case involves our country's  security and our  military personnel.

Here, Theo handed Mark the folder.

Mark slowly scanned the detail on every pages of  the written report. Carefully he flipped every pages in concentration. He frowned and turned his questioning gaze to Theo who stood in the other side near the window lost on his own thoughts. He cleared his throat  to catch his attention.
"What is this? he gestured Theo to look at the folder.

What? Are you not satisfied with this report? it's all been there,  the list of the names involved.

"Don't give me that bullshit Theo, you know what I mean.

That's enough for the government to get off my back. As you see, my name is not on the list.

Don't be sarcastic, and you know I trusted you  you're not involved in the first place that's why I disclose it to you even it's against my work ethics. I know since you take over the position as the head of your Grandfather's  Mafia business, you crushed  all his illegal dealings and turned into legal business.

Theo scoffed, the government is even aware of this, that's the deal he signed into not prosecute his grandfather. He turned in all his illegal activities. Before he even inherit his position as the head of the  De Marco's mafia  Theo is already a billionaire on his own right. All his business are ligitimate that's why the government had nothing to pinned on him, instead they propose that he would continue to head his mafia family. This is only his cover, an agreement propose by them so  they could uncover and cracked down all illegal mafia business.  Mark had not known this and he prepared it that way, few people know his dealings would secure the success of his mission. A lot of big names involved even politicians that's it's a top secret and he has own motive.

I wouldn't have thought that all these people were involved, unbelievable. Are they?

You better keep it to yourself, it's a  sensitive  information,  you're superior know some of it already. They're aware that I was not involved,  they just used your connections to me to expedite the result because of the network intelligence of my company. I've been gathering this information for a long time now, I just didn't hand it to them because I have another purpose that's why they choose you.

Mark felt gobsmacked by this information, you mean to say, you're aware of it already?

Theo didn't reply nor refute.

Damn, now he know Theo is more powerful than he realized. I'm curious though, why is your uncle  and cousin were not on the list? I don't believe you would protect them, they're a bunch of nasty people even the government is itching to nab them.

I have my own plan, Theo said with a sinister look.

Theo is not an easy enemy to make with he thought. Maybe it concern with what happened to his family.

By the way, what you did asking your men to follow Amelia's every move is a bit underhanded in your part. You can't blame my sister for being angry with you. You could have told her the truth instead  you did it in  your usual way. Remember she's not  a naive girl anymore. If you heed my advice, respect her personal decision. I know you did it for her protection, but seriously Theo,  it's  more  of your unfounded  jealousy. If you know that my father assigned a secret body guards on her so that she can move freely and not being suffocated by a shadow tailing her every move. I know my sister is aware of it, she's smart but she choose to learn to live with it because she was also protecting our family.

Theo sighed, he realized now the mistake he had  made. In order to protect her he concealed everything   from her which causes a lot of  misunderstandings. But he had a chance now to make amends for the wrong he did in the past. It's too late for regrets, but if he were given a chance to  choose again  he would  choose the same decisions protecting Amelia, but with her on his side and   not  abandoning her with total confusion. He never thought that by keeping himself away from her, it causes a lot of damage than  benifitting his silent protection. He hurt the person he loved the most in this world and the enormity of his actions caused Amelia's trust for him. He would do anything to  completely earned her forgiveness and maybe in due time they could heal and learn to express their love without any mistrust.
