❉CHAPTER 2❉
"WISHES AND GODDESSES"

A female groaned, in boredom and annoyance. Sitting on her throne as she played with her staff. She had been in that room for so long that she didn't remember what she ate last. Her hands were under her chin as she thought about how she could eat soft and gooey chocolate cake once again as she drooled at the thought of the chocolate melting in her mouth. But she knew that wouldn't have her dish for a while. After all, a human soul was dropped on her and it was her so-called responsibility to deal with them.

Well, she had thoughts of just leaving. But decided against it since she knew the consequences would be way worse. And since she knew it was her responsibility since she was still a goddess.

But even after decades, the human hadn't woken up. Not even after days that passed. The soul's eyes never seemed to open. To the point that even she, the great goddess, was concerned.

It was a first in a quite bit she had seen a soul like this, after all, when most souls die and teleport to her for her to deal with. They usually on average wake within a few hours. But for a soul to rage for more than a week? What nightmare did they witness after their passing?

She questioned. But she never bothered to think about it. Although these situations were rare, they weren't uncommon. And all that she was taught was to never bother getting attached to the souls that came and passed. They were pitiful. She knew. But it was never worth the trouble.

As she pondered. She noticed something strange, the cool wind of the room had stopped. And what seemed to be a blinding light raged brightly, and it disappeared just as quick.

The goddess stopped in her tracks when she first saw the blinding light. Covering her eyes in an attempt to block out the blinding light. But before she could assume or even guess what that sudden was, it had disappeared just like how quickly it appeared. And the cold wind came back. She was certainly surprised.

But what made her even more surprised was that crude soul was now awake. Sitting up and looking around the vast room, confused and obviously shaken.

Mouth wide open due to the sudden turn of events. The goddess stood up straight and rushed over to the soul. Taking a deep breath and putting her work mode on. She spoke.

"This one sees you're finally awake little soul" she spoke, elegance and wisdom evident as she walked over to them. Her heels clicked against the ground as she finally made it over to the soul before she bent over and let out their hand to help them reach and stand up.

The soul stared, quietly at the goddess. "so I died" they mumbled. Taking the goddess hands gently as she helped them to stand up.

The goddess was surprised. Most would have not realised they had died. And when they did they would be on their knees, begging her to send them back to their lives. Wanting to live.

But this soul didn't. The curiosity peeked and the goddess couldn't help but smile at the mystery of a soul she had found.

"Yes mortal, you did." She said as she let go of their hand. Continuing to eye them and their reactions.

"Then why am I here? I thought the afterlife is dark, closed and lonely. I was surprised to see such a vast and lit up the room" they asked. Before sighing. "Actually. Don't answer. I'm too tired for this. Please, tell me. Am I going to hell or something like that and that's why I'm here?" They asked.

Oh? The soul isn't even bothered by the fact they died. How peculiar.

"No, mortal, you aren't going to hell. The reason that you are here is that you have a second chance at life. And you are here to tell me the wishes you have for your next life" she said.

But the human stared and smiled sadly "how many wishes will be able to have?" They asked simply looking up.

The goddess stared back, at the empty shell of a person. "only five," she said.

"I see. . . Hm. . . I want to be good with my hands. So I can make dresses, weapons, technology. . . I want to make the things I couldn't." They said, smiling purely at the idea. "for my second wish. I wish to be young again so I have the time to think and be happy. . "

Then they paused. As if thinking. "For my third wish, I want to see when people are lying or being truthful." Another pause. "For my fourth wish, I wish to be able to protect myself"

The goddess stared, her eyes brows raised at the peculiar requests but nodded agreeing to each one. "and for your final wish child?"

"For my final wish. . . Is there any way I can see my old friend again?" They asked. The goddess stared and silently shook their head. "No, you have died child. You cannot."

The human sighed. "then. For my final wish. I wish to keep my memories from this life. I want to be wise in my next life and make sure I don't make the same mistakes I have made in this life" they said.

The goddess sighed. "alright. I have heard all of your requests and I agree with each one. So correct me and tell me if you have changed your mind. But this is what you have told me; you wish to be a good craftsman, young, to be able to see when people lie, for you to be able to protect yourself and for you to keep your memories." She said.

The human smiled, nodding. "Yes, goddess. Those are my wishes." They said.

"Then y/n l/n . . . I wish you a good life in your next." She said as she waved her hand a portal opened.

Y/n stared silently at the door and smiled. "New beginnings as a craftsman. Thank you" they said before walking to the portal. Stopping before turning one last time. Giving a small polite bow before leaving.

Such a peculiar human. . .

Well that was what she was thinking, but she realised too late. She had sent the poor soul to a universe as a child whose fate was to die.

How could she make such a mistake? A mistake she would never forget due to guilt she realised she had put the human in unneeded pain.
