Silent Prayer

I shed a tear as a silent prayer
In hope that it may be answered.

I shed a tear as a sign of pain
When my body is hindered.

I let them fall to the floor
As my heart gives way.

I let them fall till there are no more
For the pain shall stay.

Even when all tears are shed
The pain does not subside.

Even when the tears have fled
I still wish to run and hide.

So with my single prayer unsaid
I sit collapsed upon the floor.

But when I have given up all hope
You walk calmly through the door.

Then you spoke to me with a smile,
"Don't cry my child."

Now I understand what you meant.
The pain is only mild.
