Tired - Gavin James
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP B-
"Fuck off" I say as I bury my head in the pillow.
I am not ready to get out of this warm... cozy... peaceful..
Wake the fuck up before you fall asleep.1,5 hour of sleep.
That will keep me alive for 3 hours.I build up some strength and basically roll out of the bed.
I sit up and turn on the night light.
It hits my eyes and I shy away from it.
"Argh.." I grunt as the light blinds me.
I rub my face and eyes and then I sight as I stare at the wall.
It's amusing for some reason, but only at 5:30 in the morning when you wish you were sleeping.I rise up and walk over to the blinds, then I open them and look at the sunrise.
It's the one thing that makes waking up worth it.
Seeing the sunrise reminds me of the time I broke out of the Red Room.
It was the first time I've ever felt complete peace.
Everytime I see the sunrise, I'm reminded of how lucky I actually am.I don't stare to long today.
But what I do think about is that man.
The man I fought yesterday.
One second he attacked and almost killed me, then later he just stared.
Weird.I pull myself out of the memory and walk over to the bathroom.
I glance the reflection of myself in the mirror, and I stop to take a closer look.I pull down the collar on my shirt and take a look.
My neck is almost green.
He really got me good, didn't he...I take off my t-shirt and turn around.
I grab my shoulder and try to turn as far around as I possibly can.
My back has a lot of bruises, but they don't hurt too much.
My face though. That thing really got me yesterday. I don't even know what it was. A gun? A stick? Hell.. could have been a metal tube.
My nose is swollen and my cheek is still stiff.
I look disappointed at myself before I say to myself:
"This is what happens when you don't rest"I scoff, fighting my logical brain.
I take off my shorts and walk in the shower.
Cold water, to relieve the pain and wake me up.
Stained blood from hands and back is running down the drain and my skin gets goosebumps from the temperature.I get out and dry myself with a blue towel.
Then I make myself presentable and put on my outfit.
Creme turtle neck and black jeans, paired with heels and a black blazer if needed.
I also put on some gold ear hoops, just for show. After covering up my bruises, I put on some foundation, mascara and concealer.
I don't like wearing makeup, but as a lawyer, I have to look a certain way apparently. Then I go to the kitchen and pull out a bagel.
I spread some cream cheese on it and eat it with a banana.
I just stare at the wall and think about my life choices.
I also shove down a protein bar and a few ibuprofens.
"Soon weekend... soon" I say to myself as I try to motivate myself.
I get my things and head to the office. The streets are crowded at 7:15 in the morning.
But somehow it makes me feel normal and safe."Good morning Valdez" Maria says happily behind her desk.
"How are you so energetic at 7:30?" I ask as I give a smile and lean over the counter.
"I sleep" She jokes.
I laugh a little."I'll take your advice" I say as I get up and start going to my own work space.
"Are you ok?" She yells behind me.
"Nope. I work for Jack" I spit back.
I can hear her chuckle.I make my cup of coffee, of course, then go to my seat.
I check through my papers and then open my computer.
Just normal boring paperwork.
