chapter twelve

TW: Swearing, death

A/N this is sort of a sad chapter sorry

I awoke to an alarm blaring throughout the facility. My head was still on Sae-byeok shoulder so I quickly got up. Usually we awake to classical music not to an alarm. Suddenly the men in red barge into the room with their rifles ready.

"Attention. All players, please make your way to the centre of the room" The women on the PA says.

4 of the staff members move our barricade to the side and point their rifles at my team.

"Hey, move it." The square staff member says.

My team makes their way towards the centre of the room but Gi-hun and 001 stayed back for a little bit.

Once everyone has made it to the centre of the room the guards to a had count and then lead us outside of the room. Then the classical music began playing.

"Attention. The fourth game is about to begin. Please follow the staffs instructions and swiftly make your way towards the game hall." The women on the PA says.

Then the staff lead us outside of the room, there we see 4 bodies hung up, near the stairs. 3 of them were a guards and the other one was the doctor that was apart of 101's team.

"Players, what you witness before you is what remains of those who broke the rules for their own benefit. They tainted the pure and fair ideology everything here has been built upon. Each and every one of you is considered an equal within the walls of this facility. You must be guaranteed the same opportunities without being disadvantaged or facing any kind of discrimination. We truly apologize for allowing such an unacceptable incident to occur." The 'masked boss' says.

Then the staff lead us into the same white room from where we were choosing teams. We walk down the white stairs of the room and into the centre.

"Players, welcome to the fourth game. For this game, you will be playing in teams of two. Please look around and find someone you wish to play with. When two people agree to play together, shake hands to show you have become partners." The lady on the PA says.

Sae-byeok immediately looks to me wanting to be partners but 240 taps me on the shoulders.

"Hey, do you want to be partners? I'll make sure you win." 240 says.

I turn to her and she was looking at me with a small smile.

"Sure." I reply.

240 smiles and then we shake hands.

'Sorry' I mouth to Sae-byeok and she responds to me with a nod.

Me and 240 sit against the white wall waiting until we can start the next game.

"What's your name?" 240 asks while turning to me.

I turn to her contemplating whether I should tell her my name or not.

'She seems nice enough' I think to myself.

"Ara Jung." I reply facing towards 240, "What's yours?"

"Ji-yeong." She says.

"Family name?" I ask.

"Don't have one." Ji-yeong says looking away.

My lips form an O shape.

"Sorry." I say.

"It's okay." Ji-yeong says, once again turning to face me.
