No cheesy author notes here. It's about damn time I get on with this book. Enjoy!

Mason's POV

I watched my mate walk away completely baffled. Once she rounded the corner and her red ponytail disappeared i turned to look at my bother whose expression matched my own.

He spoke first, "What was that even? She went from choking her out to defending her."

"I don't even know, but i admire the duality of our mate."

Arron shook his head, "She is half demon and half witch, so I guess she's the pinnacle of duality."

Speaking of that, "I know she's going to want to come and help rescue Nick, would I be a bad mate if I tell her to stay put?"

"You'd be a bad mate if you thought she'd actually listen."

"She's powerful. We know that much, but she doesn't know how to control it yet and her father has left...again."

"This is all very true, but do you want to tell her she can't save her family or protect her pack?"

"I don't want to tell her no...ever, and when you put it like that i definitely don't want to tell her no, but she is my mate and i will protect her."

"She's our mate. We will protect her." he corrected me, "even if that means protecting her from herself."

"We could train her along with everyone else, i know she's fought before, but she's never fought a vampire. At least she'll know what to do if one attacks her."

"That would work if they waited in line and attacked her one by one. She needs to learn how to use her powers."

"You're an ass, but you're also right. We need to find someone to teach her while her dad is away."

"We don't know any witches."

"Thanks Captain obvious."

A new voice chimed in, "I think maybe i can be of service." Triton. We must've been so wrapped up in the brainstorming that we didn't hear the door open.

Arron spoke first, "Were you listening the whole time?"

"Uhh no i just came up here to apologize for Christina's behavior. She's a wild one, but i will be taking her back with me when we leave."

"Actually we should apologize." Honey was right. We are the ones that had her thinking that we were 4lyfers. Arron and Triton exchanged confused glances before they settled their attention on me again. "We should have been a bit more serious about boundaries; instead we just let her think whatever she wanted."

Triton shook his head, " No, no, no, Christina is a grown woman, and she should have known better than to make such a claim knowing it isn't true. She will be reprimanded for lying." He sounded very serious about that, sounds like mate business and i wasn't about to stand in the way of that.

"Okay." Arron and i said in unison.

Triton's face scrunched up, "Do you guys do that often?"

Arron and I exchanged looks before looking back at Triton, "No."

"Anyway," he walked further into the room and went to take a seat at the table. "As i was saying i can help with the witch finding."
