You were at the hospital. In a room with your best friend. Her in her bed, you by the window, so a good 6 feet apart. There was a loud silence, the wind flowing into the room, the smell of the cherry blossoms that came with the spring season.
"Kaori you said you were fine" you said, breaking the ice. "I am fine." The girl responded. "Then how come your in the hospital? You never even told me. I had to find out through your parents, who thought I already knew." You said, your arms flailing around, as if trying to further express the worry and frustration you were feeling.
"It's enough for you to know I'm ill, but I knew if I told you I was feeling unwell, you'd start acting like a mother, checking up on me everyday, all day." Kaori complained. "That's because I don't want to loose you." You mumbled. There was silence for a bit.
"I see you've changed your look." You said, taking note of her new appearance. Kaori used to wear thick black glasses, her hair tied into pigtails, with her bangs resting neatly on her forehead. Everything about her looked neat, and tidy. The girl in front of you had her hair down, her bangs swept and messy. She wore contacts now. It's unbelievable how a few changes made her look like a different person.
"I wanted to try a new style, live my life without regrets, ya know?" Kaori remarked. You stared at each other. Suddenly, you dropped your school bag on the floor, and rushed towards her bed. You hugged her. "Don't scare me like that again, idiot. You haven't contacted me in weeks! I thought you died on me." You said, breaking into sobs. You felt her arms wrap around your back. "I'm sorry."
Her arms tightened around you. You wished time could stand still. Who would've thought, that was the last time you'd see the blonde, known as your best friend.
