Chapter 5 (EDITED)

The rest of the men point guns at me and Oxford, another man steps forward.

"Move and we shoot," I smile and move my arm a fraction and earn a shot in the shoulder.

"Nice shot."

I leap forward and snap the man closest to me head off, it rolls on the floor as blood runs from his neck and makes a lovely colour.

Oxford and I grin at each other before ripping into the other men in the room. Soon the floor is slick with blood and covered in dead bodies.

"Wasn't that lovely?" Oxford asks, I nod and wipe my bloody hands on a dead man's shirt.

"Feels nice to kill again," Oxford nods and we walk out of the room covered in blood and the scent of humans.

I return to Evelyn and she stares at me with wide eyes, she hops off the bed and points to the bathroom.

"You want to shower together?" She shakes her head and I know she hates the wretched smell of humans.

I take a shower and scrub off all the blood and human scent off me. I exit the room in a towel and Evelyn pounces on me and drags me to the bed, she sits on my lap and snuggles against my chest as I stare at her.

". . . will be very clingy during the pregnancy and will not cope without you close . . ."

I guess this is what Oxford meant, I try standing up but she hisses and holds me tight, I sigh and lay back on the bed and she sprawls out on my chest. I stare at the ceiling and wonder what it'll be like to have more than ten vampire children.

"We can't cancel now Your Majesty, it's too late," I growl at Adler,

"The ball is in two and a half months so the Queen will still be pregnant, we can alter the dress and have plenty of chairs around so she can sit and relax," Adler adds, I relax slightly knowing I could force them to cancel but it would make me look bad.

"Fine." It's been two days since I found out my love was carrying my children, she is very attached to me and it already showing a small bump.

A loud thud is heard and the sound of Evelyn's pines starts, I stand up and rush to check on my wife.

I find her sitting on the bed with tears running down her face and Oxford on the ground looking dazed.

"I was checking on the Queen and she woke up and pushed me against the wall and then started crying for you," Oxford explains to me as I hold Evelyn and rubs her back, I nod believing Oxford.

"It's okay my love," I whisper into her ear, she puts her head on my chest and weeps into my shirt.

I think now it's more hormones than anything, but it still hurts me seeing her upset. Oxford stands up and bows quickly before leaving the room.

"Want to see the ballroom?" Evelyn stares at me and nods wiping the last of her tears from her face.

We stand up together and walk to the giant ballroom. Vampires are busy renovating the room and my love stares in awe at all the Vampires bustling around working like bees.

"Your highnesses," I turn and see Adler and petite women smiling weirdly at Evelyn.

"Adler," I reply curtly, my love pays no attention to him only the busy Vampires.

"This is Marie, she is one of the engineered humans," Adler says, I stare at Marie and see her eyes are empty blue.

Adler started trying to engineer humans that were capable of carrying Vampire babies, only one has made it for more than a year.

"She's the only successful one?" Adler nods and I see his eyes twinkling with pride.

"So I assume you are bringing her to the ball?" Adler nods again and I look at Marie again, I notice she stands there waiting for Adler to say something.

Like a servant with no will.

"Well nice meeting you, Marie. Adler." I nod before walking away from Adler and his creepy thing.

My love follows me giving Adler and Marie a dirty look, she knows that Marie isn't real, just parts that move.

"Oxford?" I call, in a flash Oxford is at my side looking at Evelyn confused at her expression of hatred.

"What is your majesty?"

"What do you know about Alder's..... little creation, Marie?" Oxford frowns at the question, he hates the idea of what Adler did.

"She was one of fifty women created to bear vampire children. Each one was slightly different and most of them died after a few days, Marie was the only one to make it a year. Count Adler has a claim on her and if she lives he plans on having children with her." I growl at the idea of Adler having children, most likely he will have an army and try to overcome me.

"Thank you, Oxford." He bows and walks towards Adler and Marie, probably giving him a mouthful about something scientific.

I slam my fists against the stone table and all the Counts flinch, Adler looks especially scared.

"I don't care what you have to do, she is not to be hurt. Kill the whole damn clan if you must!" I growl out, Oxford sighs at my anger and all the Counts nod.

One of the Vampire clans doesn't think Evelyn should live because 'She's still human', she's their Queen and they better respect her I'll kill them myself.

"You are dismissed!" All the Counts jump up to rush out the door, Adler lingers for a second then leaves.

Why can't all the vampires just accept Evelyn as Queen and not sent death threats?

Perks of being King I guess.

A scream makes its way to my ears and I stand up, the doors open shortly after and Evelyn walks in dragging a human man by his hair.

She drops him to the floor and smiles at me, I stare at Oxford and he just smiles before walking over to them.

"Thank you," he says before grabbing the man and snapping his neck, Evelyn walks over and sits on my lap.

Before I open my mouth Oxford cuts me off,

"She got you food to show she is still worth something to you and that she is not weak." I just nod as Oxford grabs a knife from his pocket and cuts the man's neck open and fills up my cup with the blood.

"There's another part isn't there?" Oxford nods,

"Her highness will need more food to sustain her and the babies, which means you need more blood because she needs more. The Queen will be bringing you more food so she can feed you without killing you." Oxford adds, always a catch.

"Okay."
