"Sink or swim its hit or miss, what will you pick?"
There my dad stood, he stared down at me. His gaze was intense. He smiled down at me and nudged me so I could get out of his way.
"I don't know what you're talking about dear. I'm not your dad." He smiled apologetically.
"No, dad it's me. Dani. Dani, your only daughter."
"I don't have a daughter named Dani. Sorry."
"Richard Louis Charlton! I am your daughter whether you like it or not!"
"How do you know my name?"
"Cause I'm your daughter!"
"Danielle Marie Charlton?" He asked.
"Yes?"
"It's you!" He exclaimed and pulled me into a hug.
I smiled and pulled away.
"Where have you been?" I asked the bearded man.
"I moved to Missouri. I came back about 3 months ago."
Soon anger rushed through me. Scenes from my childhood came flashing through my mind.
"You never called. You never said goodbye." I said through gritted teeth.
"I'm sorry." He went for a hug.
I slapped his arms away and went closer to Paul. Hedanie me a reassuring squeeze to my hands and I relaxed a bit.
"Have you heard fron Wesley?"
"Dani your brother..."
"My brother what?!"
My dad sighed and looked down at his feet. He seemed a bit sad.
"Dad.. What happed to Wesley?!"
"Wesley... Is in jail."
