A/N: I HAVE BEEN WAITING MONTHS FOR THIS SCENE SO YOU ALL BETTER ENJOY IT. Up there is Poppy's dress as well as the song that inspired this chapter. It's Michael Buble's cover of "Feeling Good" (trust me, you'll know what part of the update to play it)
Alright if you like it, then please vote and comment. This was written without any regard to time and space so it jumps around a little. It starts in the present then flashback to the past where the last chapter left off.
Anyway enjoy! :) love you allXXVII: Feelin' Good
COLE HELD MY HAND THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PLANE RIDE HOME. I felt jittery and nervous all at once. After nearly two weeks gone, we were finally coming back to the city. But this time it was different.
This time around Cole and I weren't running from our problems. This time around Gemma Hamilton wasn't in the equation. This time around Cole and I were okay; we were no longer fighting and we've resolved our differences.
"You ready?" Cole said as the pilot announced we could unbuckle our seat-belts. "They're waiting for us at the house."
I bit my lip but nodded. Coming back here was proving to be a task much easier said than done. I was dreading leaving our nice cotton-candy pink place in New Orleans, but I know it's only a matter of time before we're forced to catch back up with reality. Cole had the company and I the gallery. There was work to be done.
But that didn't stop the anxiety from creeping up on me. I know we have to return but it seemed so easy to just put off reality for one more week. Maybe two, three. Cole assured me it would all be different now, but I wasn't so sure. His family still despised me and the press was as relentless as ever.
I was determined to earn the love and respect of the Richmonds like I gained Mina's. I'm determined to right all the wrongs done to me and to them, because Cole and I are more committed to making things work between us now more than ever. I imagine it will take some time, but I know Cole and I have what it takes to make things right.
Cole took my hand as we stepped through the airport and had to take a detour to avoid the paparazzi. Once we were in the back of the car his gaze met mine and he smiled before kissing the back of my palm.
I sighed in content and leaned back against him as the car lunged forward, taking us to the Richmond estate. Meanwhile I clutched his hand in mine and gave myself a pep-talk as the streets flew past the tinted windows.
This time around, I was no longer Poppy White, the Cole Richmond fortune thief. This time around that didn't matter, they no longer have a reason to hate me because now what's mine is his.
This time around, I thought eying my ring, I was Poppy Richmond.
My eyes closed and a smile formed on my lips. Just thinking about the last 72 hours made my head spin.
As promised, Cole took me into the metropolitan side of town where I was handed a credit card and a chauffeur. While Cole went off to do something to do with the business, I shopped for a dress with a beefy man following behind me.
It was almost comical, the way the clerks suddenly paid attention to me when they noticed the man trailing behind me. I was dressed in jeans and a scarf blouse, my face free of makeup and my hair up in a messy bun. But as soon as they all saw my companion and the brand of the purse he was holding on to for me, they were all smiles.
Dozens of dresses were shown to me, but none stuck out. It wasn't until I was just about to quit that I saw it. Tucked in the back, I spotted the beads of the skirt and once I pulled it out of the rack and I saw the whole dress, I knew it was the one.
