Author's Note: This chapter jumps between the POVs of both Jayden and Sofi.

"All right. So, what have we got?"

Becker held up a small, black device with a clipped top, attached with a thin silver pin. Jayden recognised it as a grenade, but not the type that exploded.

"Stun grenades," said Becker. "Future predators have hypersensitive hearing, yeah? Well, these should stop them dead in their tracks."

"Got any ear plugs in there?" Conner asked.

"Use your fingers," said Becker. "Oh, and if you don't want your eardrums to burst, I suggest you keep your mouth open."

Abby smirked. "That won't be difficult for Conner," she teased.

Jayden snorted and Conner pouted.

"Don't be too close when you throw them," Becker added to Danny.

Danny nodded and, looking around at the rest of the team, all of which where there for one reason or another - be it to stop Helen or save Sofi. "Alright. Let's do it," he said, shouldering his own backpack and rounding the SUV.

"She's still alive, right?" Conner asked. "Sofi, I mean. Helen said she wanted to stop the future from getting destroyed, and she claimed Sofi was the reason for it. She also didn't hesitate in killing Johnson."

"You said yourself, Helen has been fascinated into Sofi for years," said Becker, not wanting to believe that his sister was dead.

Conner nodded. "But that was before she revealed that Sofi caused the future," he said. "What if," he hesitated, and then took a deep breath. "What if Sofi is already -?"

"No," said Jayden, shaking his head. "Helen said she wanted to stop the future of occurring, yes, but she also offered Sofi the key to time. Sofi can't see all that if she's dead."

"Besides, since when does Helen care about saving the human race?" Abby asked. "Every other encounter we have had with her, she has shown a distaste for the pollution and corruption humans bring to Earth, she's also not above playing with the science of things - Jenny and Claudia, for example."

"She wanted to recruit Sofi for that, too," said Ryan. "Sofi told me about it after I was discharged from the hospital. She was curious, but nervous that Helen would go to drastic measures to get what she wanted. Then the Professor was killed."

"Which sent Sofi over the edge," said Becker.

Danny sighed and turned to the team. "Look, we have one job," he said. "Stop Helen and get Sofi back home. Whatever Helen's plans are, regardless of whether they include Sofi or not, she doesn't get to see them come to completion. Okay? We go there, get our girl, and come back. Deal?"

The others nodded in agreement.

"Good. Then enough discussion," said Danny, turning back to the anomaly. "Let's do this."

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Conner reached into his jacket and removed the handheld, his mouth dropping open as it blinked to life, showing an active anomaly somewhere on the outskirts of the city. "No, not now," he murmured.

"It's Johnson's HQ," said Jayden, inspecting the coordinates

"Do you think it's Helen?" Abby asked.

"Could be," said Danny. "If we got back there, and we're wrong, then..."

"We lose Sofi," said Ryan.

Danny heaved a sigh and run a hand over his head, ruffling his short hair. How could he separate the team when they all had a reason to go through the anomaly to the future.
