A few hours earlier
The halls of the school building were quiet. Quiet, not in a bad way, but instead with a feeling of peace and serenity. Sunlight shone through the windows on the wall, covering patches of the floor in warmth.
All in all, it was a lovely environment that Vincent could stay for in days.
What a lovely way to romanticise getting lost in your school building.
"What am I even doing?" thought Vincent out loud. "Why am I romanticising getting lost in the school building?"
Vincent was indeed lost. Despite Delilah's warnings telling him not to wander off too far, or to remember which direction he came from, he had not taken any of it to heart. An here he was, lost in a random corridor of floor who-knows-what in the Lacaille Hall building of the school campus.
"People only romanticise things because life is a mess." Vincent said out loud. "Which I suppose it is."
In all honesty, Vincent was trying to get out of the building. The countless hallways and staircases he met were starting to give him a headache. However, the building was just his kind of place, with the quiet environment and whatnot. Plus, it gave him an excellent view of the campus through the windows.
Vincent sighed softly. "I suppose I could spare some time to explore the upper floors."
He knew a little bit about the building from the college pamphlets that he administration office had handed out to the freshmen. Lacaille Hall was the building where the science classes took place, and it also had quite a large library somewhere on the upper floors. That was what Vincent was interested in.
He took the stairs up, momentarily gazing out of the large window to look at the view in front of him. The sun's rays of light illuminated the bright blue sky as it shone across the pavement of the school campus. The grass looked as green as always, although Vincent could have sworn that the sun had been hanging higher in the sky the last time he looked out the window.
Then, it dawned on him. It was no longer noon.
"Ah, I was supposed to meet Delilah downstairs at two." muttered Vincent under his breath. He wasn't sure if it was one or two. All that he knew was that it was definitely not twelve pm, when he had come up here.
He let that slide, climbing the rest of the stairs up to the floor above. He wasn't quite sure what floor this was, but it didn't really matter to him as soon as he saw the sight in front of him. The two wooden doors in front of him had a single metal plague, which had the words "Lacaille Hall Library" engraved on it.
Cautiously, Vincent opened the door. As to his suspicions, the library was empty. He walked past the librarian's desk slowly, gazing around at the wooden bookshelves which held tons of books in them. On the other side of the room from where he was standing was a giant window which the sunlight shone through, covering the tables and chairs in the area with light.
"Woah..." Vincent gasped in awe, slowly walking around the library, running his fingers against the smooth wooden bookshelves, gazing at the isles of books until he felt a sharp pain at his index finger.
"Ow, fuck!" He said softly, taking his finger away from the bookshelf to examine what had happened. "Huh, a small splinter from the bookshelf. I thought there were none." He commented as he covered his finger in his other hand.
Ignoring what had happened, he brought his attention back to the library. It felt nice to get a little break from the chaotic atmosphere he was used to. The library gave him the exact break that he needed. What a wonderful moment to just stand there and absorb the afternoon sun, standing there without a worry in sight-
