One

Tonight is the night my world changes.

Humans and Vampires are separated. The human's being the bait and the vampires being the elite. Vampires are the royal, red society. Whist Humans are left to fend for themselves in the hope of not getting killed. Living completely separate.

I've never seen a vampire in my life. My parents kept me sheltered, until they were killed. I moved in with my best friends Sarah and Cody, who also were orphans.

I had a date tonight, a guy that occasionally comes into my work in the local cafe. He asked me out yesterday and I agreed, as long as my two friends could also come, who are dating. We all settled on a club.

I closed my eyes as Sarah placed the dark, mysterious eyeshadow on my eyes, making my green eyes pop. I grabbed the curler and began waving my long, ginger hair. I styled my bangs and put on a revealing, sequinned, gold dress. I turned to look at myself in the mirror, satisfied.

I turn to look at my friend grinning. "Vera, if you aren't some beauty queen I give up"

I blush and pull her into for a hug. She also was beautiful looking, her short dark hair, sharp jaw and amazing figure.

We grabbed hands as we walked downstairs to wait on the two awaiting partners. I look at Alex, my date who's stood in shock.

He steps towards me, arm out to grab. "You're beautiful Vera." I smiled as I took ahold of his arm and we left for the club.

We walked into the club with confidence. My veins pumping with adrenaline. We await at the bar from a drink as we listen to the gossip.

"Could you actually believe vampires would come into a human club, never mind the royals"

I turned to the girls gossiping in shock. Panic struck. Alex must've sensed this as he whispers

"Don't worry Vera, they won't hurt you"

I relaxed into him as I grabbed my drink and headed for the dance floor, in complete ignorance of the gossip I just heard.

We danced, laughed and didn't want the night to end. I felt like I was being watched. I turned to look as I watch a dark figure peering down at me.

I squint in the hope of seeing him, but it's just a blur. I shrug and turn to my friends and continue to dance. The alcohol flowing through me as I pull Alex in and start kissing him.

I jump at the sudden, sharp noise of glass dropping as I pull back. I watch as the dark figure becomes more predominant and coming our way.

I inhale as he is revealed. His eyes, the blank, brownish/red colour, revealing he's a vampire. He was gorgeous. Tall, jet black hair, strong. He was a work of art.

I watch as his friends join him in coming our way. His jaw is clenched, eyes burning, fist in a ball.

I feel Alex pull me behind him, which I appreciate. I watch Cody do the same to Sarah.

"We aren't looking any trouble" Alex calls out.

I watch as the gorgeous man walks straight up to Alex, nearly nose to nose.

"Move human"

I shiver in fear. Gorgeous but scary.

"Xander, leave it, you're causing a scene" I watch as his friends come running in his direction, desperate to diffuse the scene.

I watch as Xander doesn't move. Eyes burning.

"I'll kill you if you don't move" He states so causally to Alex. I watch as Alex turns to me with an apologetic look, which infuriates Xander more.

He steps to the side as I feel revealed. I look up at Xander. I watch as he detangles in his emotions. I watch as he steps towards me inhaling me in.

My heart is beating extremely fast, my palms sweating, butterflies forming. He was beautiful, the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. Confused in my reaction, I try focus back on him.

My skin burned as he reached out and touched my arm. I watch as he lightly grabs a piece of my hair. I look to my friends glaring at me in bewilderment as to my calm reaction in letting him touch me.

It felt amazing, my body loved him. I grow brave and look into his eyes. My breath hitching as I can see him so up close to me. He is glaring straight at me.

He steps back, glaring at me like I'm some obscure object.
"What's your name" he breathes out.

"Vera" I calmly announce. Wanting him close to me again.

I watch his eyes widen along with his friends. No clue what is happening.

"Vera, you need to come with me" he calmly stated as my heart rate quickened.
