It's always hard starting at a new school. Starting from ground zero is scary, and very nerve wracking.
I've never been very good at making friends, I'm a closed off person, and kind of a loner. I never had any big friend group, I only had a few people I talked to at school, and that was that.
I recently moved to Outer banks. My mom wanted to get away from my dad. He is kind of shitty. Drinking all the time, and basically being a crap father. He has never really been there my entire life, but he keeps getting back into my mom's life, and because my mom has had a hard time keeping him out, he has been coming into her life on and off at least a dozen times; and every time it ends the same way. He starts to get violent, and my mom kicks him out.
This time though. She decided that we needed to move, and we packed our little apartment down, and moved from Florida to South Carolina. Here mom found this little place called outer banks. It's called paradise on earth. I don't really buy that though. The place we live looks really crap; but anywhere away from my dad is better. I just hope this is going to be a better place for me and my mom.
"Y/N, can you please run to the grocery store, we don't have any food in this house" my mom called from inside her room in the house. It was very small, but if you look at it, it's also really cozy!
"Yeah sure, anything specific, or should I just go with some pasta?" I asked, as I took a cardigan over my arms, and took my purse on the table. "Just go with the usual, and here is some money" she said with a smile and handed me 20 dollars. "And the shop is just down by the road, and on your left" she said, and took a new box from the porch and carried it inside.
"Down the road, and to the left" I mumbled to myself and started to walk. The town looked rough, and the houses in this area could all use a helping hand, but I guess that the little money people made here, was used for food, and basically living.
I got to the shop and went inside. The shop was relatively small, but God either I was blind, or this fucking shop did not sell pasta.
"For fuck's sake" I mumbled irritated.
"I don't know if you've had a bad day, but what did that pack of noodles ever do to you" and voice sounded from behind me. My face spun around, and I looked straight into the most gorgeous eyes I've ever seen. I smiled embarrassed and looked down – "Oh, sorry, I was just looking for the pasta, and I don't think this shop has them, or maybe I'm just blind..." I said with a small smile.
"Ah I see, but if you look right here" and the blod boy pointed a row above the noodles, and there was a pack of pasta, right infront of me. "Oh my god, I'm so stupid! Thank you, you're a life saver, now I can actually get dinner" I said with a smile and took a few packs.
The guy smiled and laughed and looked into my eyes. I felt a tingling feeling in my body. "Are you new here, I havnt seen you around?" the guy asked with a smile which I returned.
"Yeah, I just got here today actually. Moved from Florida. So, I guess I'm as new as they come" I said with a laugh and he nodded with smile, looking interested in my story.
"That sounds cool! Welcome to Outer banks" he said and folded his arms out, "My name is JJ, and now you officially know one person" he said and winked at me. I started to feel a warmth spread in my cheeks, those damn eyes.
"Well, that's always nice! You go to the school here?" I asked, I kind of hoped he did, so I wouldn't have to be totally by myself on the first day, but to see just one known face would be nice.
"That depends if I actually show up, but for you, I might show up tomorrow, if you need a guide" he said and leaned his arm on one of the shelves. I couldn't stop smiling, he was seriously cute, like what.
"That would actually be very kind of you, and very much appreciated" I said. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" I asked while I took a step the other direction, "Yes definitely, and you can meet my friends, I think you'll like them" he said with a huge smile.
"Sounds great, and thanks again" I said holding up the packs of pasta, and he laughed; "Any time – hey whats your name?" he added.
"It's Y/N" I replied with a smile, paying for the food.
Maybe this place really was paradise on earth.
