As he landed in his room, flinching at the sudden impact he had with the floor, he allowed himself to stand up and gaze around his room for a few moments.
"Plagg, claws in," he said sadly, waiting for his costume filled with secrets to disappear. As it did, Plagg landed on Adrien's palm, the kwami sharing his owner's sadness.
"Can't you try and be friends again?" Plagg whined, hating seeing Adrien upset.
"I've been trying but we don't click. Not anymore. Back there, I finally felt like myself around her," Adrien informed his kwami, walking towards the miracle box. The box was disguised as a black box with a massive green paw print on the top. It laid on top of his chest of drawers, sitting there, visible to anyone who walked in. But it didn't bother him, he didn't live with anyone to just intrude on him.Adrien opened up the box and all of the kwamis flew out to comfort the boy. All except one.
"How are you doing Tikki?" he asked, ignoring the other kwamis and focusing on the lonely one. She sighed in sadness as a response, an overwhelming amount of sadness washing over her. "I saw her today." For a brief moment, the sadness snapped like a twig, allowing a little bit of hope to flood in. However, that only lasted a few moments.
"Is she okay?" Tikki asked quietly. Plagg flew down by her side and wrapped his tiny arms around her.
"She's... she's getting there," he said with hesitation. "I promise to bring you next time."
Tikki shook her head eagerly.
"If you do, I'll never wanna return. I'll want to stay there and just want things to go back to normal," Tikki explained, tears filling up her eyes.
"Did she ever tell you why she had to do this?" Adrien asked, letting a few of the kwamis rest on his shoulders. Tikki shook her head, Plagg's eyes saddening. "Okay. Well, I'm going to bed." The kwamis all yawned as if on cue and all flew onto his desk, wrapping themselves in little blankets.Plagg waited until he was certain his holder was asleep before facing his eternal soulmate.
"Tikki, maybe the kid should know," he said in a hushed voice, knowing it was a sensitive topic for her. She hastily shook her head.
"I don't want to talk about it Plagg. Not to him, not to anyone," she said with an irritated tone of voice.
"But it may help you," he suggested.
"She made me promise to never tell him!" she cried, tears forming in her eyes.
"I know but it's not like she can punish you. She's... she's gone," Plagg said sadly. Tikki sighed.
"I don't think I'd be able to live with myself if I broke her last promise for me," she said with a saddened sigh. "Can we not talk about this anymore?"
"Alright sugar cube. I'm only doing this for you. I love you just as much as I love my camembert and if there was something wrong with my camembert, that doesn't change my relationship with it. I'd still eat it. Just like because there's something wrong with you, I need to be there for you," he explained.
"Stop comparing me to your stinky cheese," she whined, chuckling slightly, making Plagg reminiscent of the days when they could joke around together. "I'm going to sleep now."
"Goodnight sugar cube."When Adrien woke up, he felt a whole new weight laying upon his chest. It almost felt like he couldn't breathe. He got ready for school and sat down on the bus, earning whispers and judgemental looks from the passengers. The weight had been released, but he continued to feel off about that day.
The bus stopped to let a few people on. Adrien just looked out of the window and put his headphones on.
"Are you Adrien Agreste?" The voice shocked him. No one spoke to him, no one except people at school. He looked beside him and saw a random girl beside him. Adrien simply nodded, trying his best to ignore her.
"You're the son of Hawkmoth, aren't you?" she asked with a cold voice. Something snapped within him when that was said.
"Yep."
"Your father was evil," she said with a deadly grin. "That means there's evil in you as well."
"I'm not evil! I am not my father! My father was a bad man but I'm different!" Adrien yelled, pain building up inside. His outrage caused everyone to turn their heads.
"Just like his father," he heard some whisper.
"He might hurt that girl or akumatize her," he heard others whisper. Feeling sick of the accusations, Adrien grabbed his bag and stormed out of the bus. He decided to walk to school that morning.Upon arriving, the bell went. Internally groaning, he walked into the building.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no!" he heard an exasperated girl shout behind him. He turned around and saw Marinette running behind him.
"Hey Marinette!" he said with a small smile. Knowing that she still had her tardiness made him a little happier.
"Hello sir!" she said, stopping beside him.
"It's Adrien," he said with a sigh. "I sit in front of you in basically every class."
"Oh," she said, sadness in her voice. "I'm so sorry. We don't talk much so I barely recognised you." Adrien smiled sadly before continuing to walk.
"How's the amnesia coming along?" Adrien asked.
"Not great. How's uh... life coming along?" she asked.
"Not too great either," he answered, not wanting to be apart of this conversation anymore. Luckily, they had arrived at their classroom, preparing themselves to face their consequences.
