The darkness encased their surroundings as the car drove past the 'Welcome to Beacon Hills' sign, only visible by the illuminating headlights. Silence rang throughout the moving vehicle, which held a total of two people. They weren't very big talkers. The slight whisper of each other's breathing and the droning of the tires against tar, filled the void.
As soon as they entered the town, Alana knew this place wasn't going to be like any place she'd been. She knew because she felt the shift. As if a serene, quiet night drive had turned tense, the second those tires passed the town borderline.
But, then again, serene wouldn't be the word to describe it, seeing as though Gerard was in the car. And he was anything but.
Alana wasn't happy when she got the random call from Gerard. The two had specifically set days and times of when he would call to check in on her hunting progress. Plus a visit from him once a fortnight. So it came as a surprise to Alana when she got a call mid-kill. However the news that came afterwards was what made up for it.
Kate Agent was dead.
Alana was ecstatic. Finally, the bitch had gotten what was coming to her. Especially after the scene Kate made six years ago with the Hales. The amount of effort to patch up the incident to look like it was an accident was a pain in the arse for the Argent family. It was out of line and she broke the code.
The car began to slowly come to a halt, bringing Alana out of her haze. She glanced out the window to see a large, two story house, and standing at the open front door was Chris and Victoria Argent.
Great, Alana thought, now I have to deal with Victoria and her pissy attitude.
The two were greeted mid way, as Alana glanced behind them to the open doorway, then to a window appointed to a room on the second floor. A warm light leaked from the house through its cracks, although it was well into the night. Alana's eyes snapped back to the second floor window as the curtain fluttered and the frowning face of a teenage girl stood in its place.
"Gerard, Alana, we're glad to have you both here to mourn Kate's death with us", Victoria shone one of her famous fake smiles. Alana rolled her eyes. When was Victoria Argent not fake?
"Ah yes! Mourn. Shall we take this inside? I believe we have some business to discuss", Gerard stated, switching his beady, ruthless eyes between the three other people. All of them nodded and hurried to the open doorway, but just as they crossed the threshold, an ear piercing scream echoed through the midnight air and into the ears of Alana.
Her head whipped toward the empty streets where not a single form of life could be seen. Eyes narrowing, Alana shifted her body away from the doorway to further investigate the sudden noise when her ears picked up on a ring tone coming from inside the house.
"Hello? Lydia Martin? The girl in the coma? Are you sure she escaped? Through the window. Call for back up and meet us out there. Wherever she is, whatever she is, she's on the hunt", Chris Argent confirmed. Alana's eyes continued scanning the abandoned streets of Beacon Hill from the doorstep of the Argent household as the one way conversation replayed itself in her mind.
Only one thing can scream like that, that I know of. And it isn't a werewolf.
Gerard stepped out from the house and stood next to the silent teenager, shoving his hands into the pockets of his pants. Hands that had killed millions. "What did you hear?"
"She's fast and gaining ground very quickly. She's also in a state of mind where she's not controlling any part of herself. She's dangerous", Alana informed, ignoring the old man's question, still not turning to meet the harsh gaze of Gerard Argent.
He sighed. "We'll we better get moving if we're going to catch this she-wolf. I want you at peak performance tonight", he stated. She felt the man shift closer to her to the point where the felt his breath on the back of her neck. Alana refrained from shivering in disgust, determined to show him that he didn't scare her.
"Remember, nobody is know about my secret weapon".
