💜 Surprise, I posted it early. There aren't any TWs to worry about in this one, but just know that this story is LOOSELY based off of JW beliefs. Okay, enjoy 💜

"I'm so excited to be taking this step with you, Anthony." I said as my boyfriend was driving us to our home. OUR home. We were finally going to have a home and not an apartment. "Me, too. I just hope you won't mind my fellow Witness friends. But who knows? Maybe they'll be our witness friends if you decide to change your mind about joining." I wasn't planning on becoming a Jehovah's Witness with Anthony, but I loved him so much I was willing to let him do his thing while I do mine. Anthony was hellbent on trying to get me to become a Witness, but religion was never something I never wanted to involve myself with again.

We pulled up to the small Community in Chanhassen, Minnesota and I was excited to make new friends. According to Anthony, we were going to have a mentor that was going to teach us why it's okay to be two different individuals and have different beliefs while still being together and I thought that was really sweet. "So, what's this mentor like?" I asked Anthony as we were driving around to find our new home. He smiled. "His name is Prince, and he's an elder. An Elder is something I'd love to become in the future and with Prince's help I think I can become just that." I was so excited.

We pulled into the driveway of our new home and I got out as soon as we came to a stop. Immediately, I could hear someone playing guitar not too far from us and the wind slightly blowing made me feel like this was going to be our home forever. The guitar playing stopped and I went inside to make sure all our furniture arrived in good condition. Anthony stepped inside with our bags and smiled. "Home sweet home, huh?" I smiled. "Yeah, home sweet home." I said to him.

I started unpacking the inside of our new home in the kitchen while Anthony was out taking care of business and getting supplies to fix the side roofing of the house and to add gutters. I was putting our Tupperware, bowls, and utensils away when I heard a knock at the back door. Our back door was going to never be used and I'd have to tell our neighbors that. I stopped what I was doing to answer the knocking and there was a man in a white suit and a matching fedora looking at me. "Hi." I said. He smiled. "Hi. Is Anthony here?" The man asked. "He just went out to get some tools for building some things outside. Is everything okay?" I asked him. He seemed shy. "Yes, um...I'm Prince." I smiled really big. "Oh? You're our mentor. I understand now." He smiled softly.

"Well, come in. We just got here about an hour ago and-" "Oh, it's okay. I'll just sit outside and wait." I was confused. Maybe he didn't think we had furniture for him to sit. "It's okay. Come sit." Prince looked around inside. "Are you sure?" He asked. "Yes! Please, I insist." He seemed hesitant to, but decided to come into our home. He took his hat off and was holding it and I smelled the scent of lavender as he walked by. Prince was looking around. "This is a nice home. I'm glad someone finally moved into it. I live next to you." We were the only two houses on this block and just a few minutes walk to the church. I motioned for him to sit down on our sofa and he did with hesitance. "Are you sure Anthony doesn't mind me being here with you?" I was confused as I was tearing a box open. "No! He shouldn't. He's very sweet, but I'm sure you know that." I said to Prince.

He sat his hat on his lap and was looking around. "So, what's your name?" He asked. I reached into the box. "Serana. Is your name really Prince?" He glanced away and chewed a bit of the inside of his cheek. "Yes. But a lot of people call me Brother Nelson around here." I pulled out a big vase and sat it on our fire place. "Is that what we should call you? Since you're our mentor?" He laughed. "No. Please call me Prince. Just because I'm a mentor that doesn't mean I'm gonna be a..." He was thinking of a word. "A...boss or something." The front door opened and Prince jumped off of the couch putting his hat on quickly. Anthony walked in and smiled. "Hey, beautiful. You're setting grandma's vase in the best spot." He came over and kissed my cheek. "Prince is here." Anthony's face stiffened before he turned to see Prince standing there.
