It was Monday afternoon, and Danielle was sitting on her living room floor after a long and well-needed workout. It's been a few days now since Emma's house party and also since the last time she saw Stefania. They exchanged few text messages here and there, but neither of them showed interest in meeting again. Danielle noticed a change in Stefania's behavior after their last kiss in the kitchen, but she couldn't quite wrap her mind around what happened, and it gave her anxiety. She wanted to invite Stefania over and talk about everything that happened. But at the same time, she felt the urge to dissociate and protect herself from any possible heartache, even though it was already too late.

Danielle snapped back from her thoughts as she heard her phone ringing. She slowly got up from the floor, secretly hoping to see Stefania's name on the screen, but to her disappointment, it was Marcus.

"Is everything okay?" Danielle sank into a couch and sighed with disappointment. She only now realized how much she wanted to hear Stefania's voice, even if for a few seconds.

"Do you have any plans for the rest of the day?" Marcus asked. Danielle could hear loud rumbling voices in the background.

"It depends. Do you need anything?" Blonde asked while trying to blow away some hair from her face.

"I thought maybe you could spend some time with Cara if you don't have any plans," Marcus now quietly said. Every time he asks to spend time with Cara, Danielle knows that something terrible is happening. Even though she enjoys Cara's company, it breaks her heart to see that look on her face. The look of internal pain and despair to escape.

"What happened?" Danielle felt her body trembling. Something about Cara getting abused reminded her of her own experience, not only with Thomas but also her father. Even though the blonde's father never hurt her physically, the emotional trauma she had to go through was as terrible as it can be.

"He's drunk. I don't want him to release his anger on my sister again," Danielle could feel Marcus holding back his tears.

"Have you consider calling the police?" Danielle got up from the couch and walked to her bedroom. She suddenly felt the urge to rip off her sweaty workout clothes.

"Do you want to talk to my mother about that? It seems like she doesn't give a shit about any of this. She's probably waiting for him to kill one of us," Marcus started sobbing as soon as he finished the sentence.

"Do you want to stay at my place tonight? I have a spare room for Cara and a comfortable couch for you," Danielle tried to hold back her tears. She wanted to hug her friend and tell him that everything will be fine, but on the other hand, she knew that saying it in a situation like this would be stupid the least.

"Can you get Cara? She's still at school," Marcus mumbled while trying to control his breathing.

"When should I pick her up?" Danielle looked down at her watch.

"In about thirty minutes," Marcus took a deep breath. "If that's okay with you,"

"I'll be there," Danielle paused for a second. "I'm serious, Marcus. You both can stay here for as long as you need,"

"I'll talk to you later," Marcus said right before another wave of uncontrollable sobbing struck him.

Danielle felt her body aching. Not from a workout but from the powerless feeling of not being able to help. She always felt the urge to help others even if her own body and soul were in constant pain. Danielle knew how dangerous it is when your pain overpowers common sense, so she was ready to fight yet get Marcus into staying with her, at least for tonight.

Blonde was putting some clothes on after a quick shower when she suddenly felt in desperate need of Stefania's touch. The thought of Stefania's hand gently caressing her cheek gave Danielle comfort, so she grabbed her phone and recorded a quick voice message.

"Uhm, hi. It's me, Danielle, but of course, you know that already. I hope you're having a good day so far. Mine just went downhill. I'm actually on my way to the school now as Marcus asked me to pick up Cara," Danielle's breathing got a little heavy as she was walking down the stairs. "But I just wanted to say that I miss you, and I think about you, like all the time. I really hope we can talk soon. And maybe even hold hands. So please text me whenever you have some free time and of course if you want to. Bye,"

Danielle felt her cheeks turning red as soon as she sent the voice message. The thought of Stefania laughing at the stupid things she said made Danielle feel a little anxious, but overall she was hoping to hear Stefania's voice sometime soon. Blonde knew that Stefania wouldn't leave her without saying a word, and that thought accompanied her on her way to the school.

As soon as Danielle pulled in a school's parking lot, she heard her phone ringing. Blonde shyly looked at the screen. Stefania.

"Hi," Danielle quietly said while getting out of the car so Cara could see her better.

"Where are you?" Stefania asked. Hearing Stefania's voice made Danielle's heart race.

"I'm in the parking lot, still waiting for Cara," Danielle leaned her back into the car as she felt her legs getting weak.

"Don't go anywhere. I'll be there in a minute," Stefania said right before hanging up. Blonde felt like the ground underneath her was shaking.

Not even a minute later, Danielle looked up from the ground to see Stefania coming out of the school. She looked at the brunette woman with her mouth open, not able to process how absolutely breathtaking she looked right now. Stefania looked like a goddess, and at this moment, Danielle realized that there was no way back. She was deep down lost in Stefania's world.
