I hate my life. It doesn’t get any better.

I buried my face in my bed and covered myself with a blanket. If my mom was here, she wouldn’t let these things happen to me.

I was having my moment when Emma broke inside the room. “Are you crying?” she asked.

“Oh no no. I was having a cold,” I pretended to be sniffing.

“Oh right. Well, I just passed by to give you these. I think it’s yours.”

I was really surprised when she handed me my phone and earplugs.

“Oh my god Emma. Where did you get it?”

“I found it on your clothes. They look so weird to me, and you were first thing that came into my mind so I decided not to throw it and give it to you.”

“I’m glad you did! Thank you Emma!” I jumped up and gave her a very warm hug. Emma has been good to me even though I have only been here for days. And she reminds me so much of my mom.

“I can’t breathe. Maybe you should let go haha.”

“I am so sorry.”

Emma and I sat on the bed.

“So. How was your first day?” she asked over.

“Not good.”

“Awww. Don’t worry. It’ll pass.”

“I hope so”

There was an awkward silence after that.

“Emma, how long have you been staying here?”

“3 decades.”

“WHAT?! YOU SERIOUS?”

“Yep.”

“So tell me, why is the prince like that?”

“It’s a very long story,” Emma giggled.

“Then make it short!” I demanded.

“You really want to know do you?”

I gave her a big puppy eyes.

“Fine. Where shall I start? Oh okay, so, are you ready to cry?”

“As if!” I proudly said.

“You sure about that? haha! Okay so here it goes... Asa is a very lonely prince.”

“Sure he is,” I interrupted.

“Oh shut it.”

“Sorry.”

“Living in a very lonely life. A prince who was once in high spirits but clouded with darkness and anger. He had a brother named Morgan. They were really so close, and they love each other so much.”

“And where is he now?” I asked but she gave me the pointy finger so as a sign that I should prolly shut my mouth. Then she continued…

“One day, the whole royal family went to the forest for a normal family day. I was there with them. We did horse riding, animal shooting and stuffs. When we are about to head back home, Asa didn’t want to go. No matter what they do, they can’t persuade him. And with that, Morgan backed him up so they can do horse riding again, Asa’s favorite leisure. The King and the Queen of course cannot do something about it. They love them so much that they approved. We went home without the children and put Asa’s safety to Morgan’s shoulder as the elder. But something terrible happened. Soldiers from the other kingdom disembarked to their spot. And a chase happened. Unfortunately, the enemy shot their horse which leads them to stumble. Knowing that Morgan is the heir to our kingdom, the soldiers shot Morgan to death in front of Asa, seeing it with his very own eyes. Morgan protected Asa with all his life.”

“And why didn’t they kill Asa?”

“They were supposed to. But the kingdom’s knights came… with the King. The King was so frustrated with what happened for it was his favorite son and his heir that was killed. He put all his anger to Asa and blamed him for everything until now. When the Queen heard the news, she felt so forlorn and took her life away. And it made the King loathe Asa even more.”

“That is sad.”

“I know. And it didn’t end there. He tried to keep up with everything. He tried all his very best to get the King’s trust back but it didn’t get any better until he personally gave up… and live his life with darkness on his heart. And he also once had a lover named Dana, but things didn’t go well. This girl cheated on him and it broke him so hard that he almost killed himself.”

I can’t keep my feelings anymore that I cried.

“I thought you’re not going to cry?” Emma laughed.

“Who the hell wouldn’t cry? That is by far the craziest heart-wrecking life story I have ever heard! To think that I have hated my life so much that I want to die but there is actually someone who is suffering worse than me.”

“That is why I want you to not give up on him.”

“But why me? I am just a mere servant,”

Emma put her hands on my shoulder and said, “I see something in you that others do not have and you might be the one who will be able to change him back to who he once was…

Please do him a favor.”
