Macarena and Zulema spent the rest of the day not doing anything and barely communicating. Zulema insisted she should be the one to drive out and get them some food and resources because of Maca's healing leg. "Zulema, I'm perfectly capable of driving," Maca highlighted.
"I'm going Rubia," she insisted again. Zulema is not usually the one to go out grocery shopping. At this, Macarena stormed off and into the caravan as Zulema watched. She decided to leave her alone and head towards the car. Sometimes it was best to leave things and not create an argument with her.

Hours sailed past as it soon became dusk and the night was arriving. It was just getting dark, and the brunette was sitting on a wooden bench they had crafted, outside the van, puffing on a cigarette as usual. Bright colourful lights twinkled behind her on the van window. As she took another drag, Maca stepped out of the caravan and walked nearer to her. She had her green parka coat on, a black beanie hat and blue jeans. Winter has hit strong this year and it didn't help that they were living in a caravan. "Well, I'm going to get some wood from the woods so we can make that fire," she explained, standing and waiting for Zulema to even look at her. She didn't say anything, just took another puff of her cigarette. "Are you coming?" Maca asked impatiently.
"No," came the simple reply. She then looked over to the blonde who was still standing as though waiting for Zulema to say 'no don't go into the woods it's too dangerous' but she didn't. Because the truth was, Maca wasn't particularly looking forward to going into the woods at night. The sky was nearly completely black.
"Vale. I'll be back soon," and with that she zipped up her coat and set off in the direction of the woods. The woods was almost like a back garden to Macarena and Zulema. It appeared very handy for providing things they needed. Zulema watched Maca walk away, regretting not going with her. In places like this, it was best to go with someone if they are to be alone. She watched until she disappeared through the trees.

Worry and questions started to arise in Zulema's mind as it surpassed 25 minutes since Maca had left her to fetch firewood. She should be back by now. It's not that hard to find wood surely. There was a space of peaceful silence before the sudden out of the blue, heart stopping sound of a gunshot coming from the woods. Zulema instantly pulled the cigarette form her mouth and shot up off the bench. "Maca!!" She yelled as she stared in the direction of the woods, looking round frantically. Checking she was armed with her gun, which she always was, she threw her cigarette to the floor and began running towards the woods. "Maca!"
Adrenaline was pumping through her as she sprinted in the direction of the woods. They were not far away. The amount of fear was making Zulema run faster than she ever thought she could. Her heart pounding in her chest with worry, she reached the edge of the woods where she burst through a gap in the trees and continued running but at a slower speed. She had no idea where Maca was; she could barely see as it was almost pitch black. Macarena could be anywhere. "Maca!" She shouted again as she had to choose a random direction to start. She had no idea where to go but carried on running. "Maca dónde estás!"

With fear and anxiety growing, Zulema held a face of panic and stress as her eyes were wide and her heart pounding. Just as she'd given up hope, she made out a figure running at full speed towards her. It was Maca. She was breathing heavily and in fear as she ran at Zulema without realising she was there. Just as she reached her, she was looking behind her and ran into Zulema. "Woah Rubia!" Said Zulema in a raised voice as she caught the blonde and stopped her. It was so dark she could barely see her. But Maca had a torch. She was completely terrified about something and was panting heavily. As Zulema held onto her shoulders to steady her, she spoke in a worried tone, "Maca que pasa?!" She looked into both her eyes.
"No, we have to go. Now!" Came her reply as she tried to continue running but Zulema held her still.
"What Maca?!" You always know when Zulema is being serious and genuinely anxious about something when she uses 'Maca' instead of 'rubia'.
"Just run!" Before she had a chance to stop her again, Maca was off, running in the direction that Zulema had just come from. She had no option but to follow her. "Maca!" She yelled as she chased her through the woods. The pair sprinted as fast as possible to the opening in the trees where they could see the lights from the van. This was like deja vu. There had been so many times where this duo had been on the run from something or someone and were following each other. Usually it was Zulema at the front and Maca following on behind but this time it was the other way around. Something really had frightened Maca.

They eventually reached the edge of the woods as Maca burst through the trees, followed 3 seconds later by Zulema leaping out of the trees. They ran around the lake to the other side where the safety of their caravan awaited them. Maca didn't stop until she reached the caravan. Zulema arrived after her and stopped running as she reached her. She tried to get her breath back as she panted quickly, clearly out of breath. She bent forwards with her hands on her knees. "Maca, what the fuck happened in there!" She cried trying to speak through breaths.
"There-there was a man. He came at me but I didn't have my gun on me..." she explained.
"Qué! Maca, you should always have your gun on you!" Zulema yelled in annoyance and anxiety.
"I know I know!"
"Then what happened?" She asked the blonde as they both continued recovering their breathing.
"He was pointing a gun at me so I tried lunging forward and lift his arm in the air. And that's when he fired," she explained with a scared look on her face. She was constantly looking towards the woods. "And so I just ran. Didn't look back. Just ran." Maca looked behind her to see where the bench was and slowly and carefully sat down. She seemed shaken up so used the seat as a support. Zulema thought her legs were shaking as she looked at her. "It's alright now. You're safe," she tried to reassure her. "But we need to prepare ourselves. In case he comes here," she continued, dreading having to tell a terrified and shaken Maca. The blonde just nodded her head.
"Where's your gun?" Zulema asked in a serious tone, standing in front of Macarena.
"In the van. Inside the cabinet," she replied shakily as she held her head in her hands.
"Oye, Rubia. It's gonna be ok. Trust me," Zulema moved closer and placed a hand on Maca's shoulder. She lifted her head to look at the brunette. "Now, get your ass up and pull yourself together. We've got an hijo de puta to kill..."
