My mind is like a tunnel, the further you go the darker it gets, and with little to no prospect of seeing a light at the end there isn't even a sliver of hope for me I thought morbidly. The cool wind whiping against my face as my mind became a gutter for macabre thoughts.

"You know your thoughts are rather depressing."  , said a sudden voice pulling me out of my reverie. I tend to forget that Damien's freakishly super powers allow him to connect and read other people's minds.

"Cheer up old chap! Tonight we feast on mortal blood and flesh. We wouldn't want you to be all down and dreary as we wreak havoc. Didn't you hear?  The heavens are expecting a solemn blood bath from us."

"Then we mustn't disappoint our betters' now, shall we?" I said with a smirk. Damien's humour was infectious and I was soon put out of my bad mood.  As Damien and I walked down the empty streets of New York my thoughts began to wonder as they usually did to that one fateful event that lead me to the current life I'm living. I had to lower my standards and learn how to co-exist with these nasty vermin, mortals. To make it worse I needed them as much as they needed me. Damien and I we were considered the balance of the world. As fallen angels we lost the one thing that separated us from mortals the need to feed. Now we had to rely on the humans for the one thing that we no longer possessed, a soul.

I always try my best to be humane when it came to feeding, but I tonight I was extremely starving to the point I was feeling physical pain and experiencing hallucinations or as I thought.

"I am going to gorge the whole of New York City if I don't get something to eat." I felt a pang of hunger followed by the constriction of my lungs. I knew I couldn't keep this up any longer. I could feel my teeth lengthen and sharpen into daggers, puncturing my bottom lip sending trickles of amber blood trickling down my chin. I swiped at the blood on my bottom lip and chin, trying to keep up my appearance of a normal twenty year old man walking down Madison Avenue.

"Calm your tits you'll get your fill and I know just the place." He said this as we walked down a narrow alley. My curiosity was at its' peak as we approached a large steal door in the alley. Damien opened the door and motioned his hand for me to enter.

"Ladies first." I scoffed at his comment and walked inside. My black coat billowed by the gust of wind that came from the closing door behind us.

"Welcome young foal to your all you can eat buffet."

My eyes scanned across the room absorbing in my surroundings. We were in a club that much was evident.

"On your left,"

Damien said pointing to a group of petite girls

"Are our world class selection of various and leafy salads."

"In the middle we have juicy, tender steaks that have been grilled to perfection" I said while pointing to a group of overweight men and women in their forties

"And lastly we have sweet, sweet desert" he said his gaze landing on a man wearing a tailored tuxedo sitting on a bar stool taking a sip from his glass of scotch.

" I think I'll save best for last." Damien said as mystery scotch man looked up and gave him a wink. Damien began to walk away into the crowd. Apprehension took over me as I wondered where he was going.

"Where you off to wanker?"

"The salad bar."

I slammed his head repetitively against the bathroom stall door, watching his eyes loll back into his sockets as his screams died down to a ghostly silence. I shivered with excitement as I heard a sickening crunch as I bashed his head against the bathroom stall for the fourth time. I got off on this too much, it was almost alarming. Almost. I grabbed the man by his neck, his lips inches away from mine. A purple cloud of mist withdrew from his mouth and swirled through the air before the sickly sweet mist entered my mouth and nostrils. I could feel myself grow stronger with power the fatigue I felt earlier diminished ever slightly. I discarded the body next to another that had been my recent meal's girlfriend or whatever, but by the shiny gold band on his ring finger she was probably just a whore.

After my departure from Damien I had entered the men's washroom. I was so hungry and that pain that I was experiencing was intolerable. I could feel myself hanging thin as my talons lenghthened and my fangs punctured my bottom lips my resolve snapped, killing everyone in my path and sucking them dry of their souls. It still wasn't enough. What I had was an insatiable hunger and therefore only needed more. Stepping out of the bathroom I saw from first-hand experience what hunger could do to a higher ranked demon. Everyone in the room was apparently dead or half eaten.  "Latina's have such good pussy." He said licking his fingers clean. I raised an eyebrow at his foreign terminology. I didn't see any Spanish cats anywhere.

"You know Pussy Kitty Gato mrrr-aaow." He said with emphasis rolling his tongue. Still confused I shook my head. My eyes scanned the once lively bar only to land on the floor.  At Damien's feet lay mister mysterious scotch man, dead. I looked up at him in shock.

"What?" He asked me if I could pay the tab so we could get out of here to his place. Like what the hell happened to chivalry? scratch that independency, before you know it he would be asking me to pay his bills!"

His voice growing louder with each word before kicking mister mysterious scotch man in the stomach. Unlike before, Damien's body was now bigger. His shoulders were broader and his arms were bulging. His facial features were sharper and edged giving him a fierce and predatory appearance. One thing about us fallen was that we began to fade as our supply of food in our system reduces which usually happens after three weeks. Feeding after a long time is equivalent to being revived back to a much more healthy state of being.

"So... Shall we leave? This bar was boring anyways." I smirked at his words as I manoeuvred my way around the sea of dead and half eaten corpses.

"Are you serious? Cannibalism?"

"I was hungry and horny; you are not allowed to judge a man's actions when he is stuck in between these two states."

Snorting in laughter we made our way down the street. After walking for five minutes I felt a strange presence in our midst. The hair's on the back of my neck stood on end as I felt a surge of power course through my veins.

"Hey! Doofus, stay with me." Damien said as he violently shook my shoulders. My surroundings became hazy and my ears began to ring. The last word I heard before I faded into oblivion.

It is time.
