beep
beep"have a good day!" the cashier bowed as a man left the store.
a yawn left your lips as you placed the cans on the shelf, making sure to stack them in the correct order.
it seems that lately something's been eating you up inside. he's been on your mind for about a whole week now; yes, a whole week. after the last time you saw him at the vending machine, it was like he disappeared or something.
you never saw him again after that and couldn't help but wonder where that cute boy had gone. it's not like you liked him or anything, you're just curious, that's all.
"y/nnn, switch!" your coworker, ayu, notified you with a whistle while walking towards you. "yes yes." you nodded back, making your way to the cash register.
taking your phone out, you checked for any missed messages only to see none. what an eventful life you had.
ding ding ding
"welcome!" you quickly put your phone down and bowed at the customer.
raising your head back up, you froze.
"oh, l/n-san."
your eyes widened. it was like the universe knew something had been bothering you and decided to finally put your mind at ease.
"tachibana-san? i didn't expect to see you here.." you muttered out, still trying to comprehend what's going on.
"i didn't either, i never knew you worked here." the boy replied with a small smile.
"ah haha yeah.." you chuckled awkwardly.
what the hell.
..
"did you find everything okay?" you asked naoto as he handed you his items.
"yes." he replied, standing awkwardly as you scanned his stuff.
god why was this happening? out of everywhere you'd bump into him again, it was while you were at work. great, just great.
"oh uhm i haven't seen you around school lately.." you muttered out, trying to start up a conversation.
"oh yeah, i got held up with some school work." he answered. "ahh i see." you nodded your head in understanding.
"that'll be 547 yen." you informed him as you placed his items into a bag.
he placed the amount into the small tray and you handed him his bag.
"oh uhm when do you get off work?" he suddenly asked, catching you off guard.
"huh? i get off later tonight at 8, why?" you answered him with furrowed brows. "oh that's really late." his eyes widened, not expecting your hours to be so late.
"ah it's not always like this, i'm just taking over for another coworker today." you explained, making the boy's face relax a bit as if he was relieved.
"i see.. i'll see you later, bye." he bowed his head before walking out. "bye bye!" you bowed back, watching him walk out the door.
you stood there, unsure of what to think. why did he ask you when you got off? what did he mean by later? as in later at school or later today? were you just overthinking?
a sigh left your lips as you leaned against the wall.
"he's cute." ayu suddenly said from beside you, startling you.
"you startled me!" you jumped, turning your head to face her.
"do you like him?" she suddenly asked, causing a blush to rise up to your cheeks. "no!" you stuttered, making her narrow her eyes at you.
"if you say so.."
little did you know, what ayu said was about to send you down into a spiral.
