*Levi's POV*
My name is Levi. I am the son of Kara and Mon-el. I love my parents so much. They are so in love, it's kinda gross. I wanna find what they have. Maybe this is my year. First day of my senior year. I wouldn't say I have a so-called "crush", but there is this one girl. Dani Ashford. She is the most popular girl in school. For her, everything seems easy. She has a million friends and money. Her family is the popular group of Midvale. I just don't know if she even knows I exist.
"Hey honey," my mom kisses my head as she enters the kitchen. "Ready for your senior year?"
"Define ready."
"Ah come on, surely it can't be that bad," my dad says as he eats his bacon. "This is the year you really get to prove yourself, show your worth. I think this year is gonna be kickass."
"Thanks, Dad, but I'm not sure. All I want is to get through it without any mishaps, We don't want a repeat of last year," let me break it down. Last year, I had my first date ever. The night was going great. Went to dinner then to the movies. I was slowly beginning to build a relationship, then it struck. We were sitting in our seats and a huge alien busted through the screen. You'd think that that wouldn't be so horrible considering we have two amazing superheroes that are always there, but this alien decided it would be fun to pick on me. He literally gave me a wedgie in front of fifty people, including that girl. By the time Supergirl and Valor got there, I had already been humiliated.
"Let's just have hope that this year will be different for you. Maybe you'll actually bring a girl home to meet the parents, huh?" My mom said teasingly. A second later her phone began to ring and she answered. "Hello? Yeah, of course. I'll be there in a few," she hung up the phone. "Sorry to cut this short my two handsome men, but I have to run to work. I love you both so much!" I stand to hug her and watch as my parents share a kiss.
"Love you too!" My dad and I say in unison. "Anyway, I better get to school. Love you, paps," I grab my bag and head out. I love to walk, it's actually one of my favorite things, besides running. I don't lose energy when I do. As I'm walking I run into my friend Victor, who I call Vic. "Hey Vic, wassupppppp!?"
"Hmm, should I tell you?"
"What's going on man?"
"I may or may not have gone on a date last night," I hit him in the shoulder.
"No way! Who's the lucky guy?" Oh, I should mention that he is gay.
"His name is Joshua and he is just wow."
"I'm happy for you, you deserve to find happiness. After the shitty deal life's handed you," let me clear things up. Victor has been my best friend since we were kids. He came out to me when we were fifteen years old. I was very accepting, as were my parents, but his were not. His parents kicked him out. He stayed with us until he could get ahold of his aunt. She welcomed him with open arms.
"Thanks, Levi. That means a lot. Come on, we gotta get inside." We run into the building and head to our lockers to get our books. As I'm getting mine, Dani walks past me with her friends. I look at her and she seems sad. Like she has been bombarded with things that seem to make her miserable. I wish I could make her feel better. "Hey, let's get to class." The day was slow, the first day always is.
"Alright everyone, how was your first day?" Mrs. Leonard begins to ask as a student walks in. "Mr. Mathews, you're needed in the office." I stand and head out the door into the hall. Me being an idiot, I run into someone, and we both fall. I get up quickly and take the hand of the other person to help them up.
"I'm so sorry, I am such a clutz," I finally get a look at the girl. Dani.
"Oh no, it's fine. I should've been watching where I was going. Hey, your name is Levi right?"
"Yes, Lev- Levi yes, that's my name," I stutter.
"I'm Dani," she holds out her hand. I take it and softly shake it.
"Uh yeah, I know. We've been going to school together since I can remember," she smiles. I pick up a book that's still on the ground. " "Remains of the Day". Loved it. All that barely repressed longing."
"Exactly," she smiled and took the book back. "Right. Well, Levi. I should get going. I'll be seeing you," she turns and walks away. My heart beats out of my chest. Dani Ashford just fucking talked to me. Am I dreaming? A few minutes pass and my teacher comes out to remind me to go to the office. I quickly sprint since I'm already late.
"Can I help you?" The office aide asks.
"Uhh yeah, I was asked to come."
"Levi," I turn around and there stands my aunt Alex.
"Aunt Alex, hey. What's going on?" She grabs my shoulder and walks me out into the hall.
"I can't really tell you here. We need to go," I follow her outside and get in her car. "Okay so, I'm gonna take you somewhere you've never been before. It's a secret organization called the D.E.O. I need you to remember that you did nothing wrong. We are simply going to test you. Your parents told me that you have been coming into some new powers so to speak."
"Yeah, I uh- I thought it was really weird but I woke up one day recently and I was levitating. Do you know what's wrong with me?"
"Nothing is wrong with you sweetie, it's just time for you to learn the truth," Alex parks the car in an underground garage.
"That begins with us," I turn to look out the window, and there stand my parents.
"Hey, mom.... dad. What's going on?"
"We haven't been totally honest with you. Your mother and I are not from around here."
"What? Do you mean like, Midvale?"
"Not exactly," seconds later my mom is floating. "I'm Supergirl and your father is Valor," and from that day forward, my life has changed. But hey, maybe it's for the better.
