Lily Evans never cries. She didn't cry when she scraped her knee while riding a cycle, she didn't cry when the kids at school made fun of her red hair, she didn't cry when she heard Severus talking behind her back in the corridors, she didn't cry when Petunia told everyone that she wasn't Lily's sister, she didn't cry when Severus called her a mudblood.

No, Lily never cried; but that didn't mean she didn't show her pain in other ways. Lily had 2 reputations at Hogwarts; the first one being the booksmart teacher's pet who followed the rules, and the second being an angry fireball who could burn you to the ground with her sarcasm and forget about it by 4th period.

What people did forget, was that she had feelings too. Even if Lily didn't take crap from anyone she was hurt, she was bleeding and she had no one to talk to. So when she found out that Petunia had made the entire guest list for the reunion, Lily almost exploded.

First was her grandmother who thought the scum on her shoe was better than Lily's entire existence, then Jody and Mandy who were the most annoying cousins, after that were Tabitha and Steven whose life goal was to bully Lily every chance they got, Auntie June who treated her as if she had the IQ of a 1 year old, and lastly Uncle Samuel who seemed to think Lily was in a secret relationship with his son.

Lily had stormed out of the kitchen and into her room, banging the door shut. She was incredibly angry at her mum,dad and sister; with a sting she realised she had no one to talk to. Severus was not her friend and Dorcas, Alice & Marlene could only comfort her through letters which would take days to reach. So with her emotions on overdrive, an immense feeling of loneliness and a void in her heart which seemed to grow day by day; Lily could feel her eyes getting damp and before she knew it, she sank to the ground just as the waterworks began.

Sirius stood outside the door helplessly listening to Lily sobbing. He didn't know her very well despite being in her classes for the past 5 years, but he did know that she didn't deserve all the hate she was getting.

For the first time Sirius couldn't just jump in and go with the flow, no, he had to think about this. Sirius could either go in the room and talk to Lily or he could give her space; he pictured himself in that situation, it wasn't very hard. He remembered when he cried for hours on end after enduring the abuse, everything else was woozy; maybe he fainted from being locked up or the exhaustion of crying or so long, he didn't know.

However, what he did know was that he had desperately wanted someone to talk to. To speak his heart out and shamelessly sob whilst he had been lonely and scared. He reckoned Lily felt the same way inside the room; finally deciding that awkwardness wasn't an excuse to not help someone he opened the door and stepped inside.

Lily was curled up in the corner of her room, her eyes were bloodshot and her nose was red. She thought she heard someone come into the room but she was too tired to check. When she felt someone touch her shoulder she jerked her body to stare right into the grey eyes of Sirius Black.

Sirius's eyes were something she had always been a bit envious of, they were a soft grey and always sparkling with mischief and happiness, but at this moment they were empty and soulless and brimming with worry. However, that was not the only surprising thing about that moment; Lily was utterly baffled when Sirius pulled her into a tight hug. Out of all people to hug, Sirius was at the bottom of the list but she realised that she felt weirdly safe and comfortable.
