" time flies by ."
That's what my mother said to me on the anniversary of being 'adopted' by the Buckley's . You see , my mother you just heard from a second ago , isn't really my mom . She and her husband took me in 7 years ago today . And not by like a foster home or anything , I just showed up.
When I was about 2 or 3 , scientists took me from my family and experimented on me with a few other kids . I didn't know why until I was five . I had supernatural powers . Telekinesis , to be exact .
The experiments were painful , but when I was 7 , me and 10 other kids managed to escape that horrid place . We all spilt up a couple hours later and I haven't seen them since .
But blah , blah , blah . I got lost , showed up at the Buckley's and boom ! Here I am . They invited me to stay for a bit until they found my parents , and when I told them I didn't have any , i could stay with them for as long as I wanted .
The Buckley's were always like true family , especially Robin . Robin is my non-biological sister , She is the Buckley's daughter . She was very sweet and welcoming when I arrived , and as we grew older , we had a lot more fun . We were practically inseparable , until summer of 1985 .
" Daphne c'mon ! Steve is here !"
Robin yelled from the bottom of the stairs . Steve is Robins co-worker at her summer job , an ice cream shop . Since mom and dad worked full time now , I had to go to work with Robin , and Steve had to pick us up because , well , Robin can't drive .
I rushed downstairs as fast as I could so Robin wouldn't yell into my ear , again . She laughed as soon as I reached the bottom step , "what took you so long ?" She asked . "sorry , I might have overslept ." I lied , I've been up all night afraid they were going to take me away again . I know it's been 7 years but I still worry about it every single night .
" yeah , okay." She ruffled my hair and grabbed her bag . " I'll be in the car ." She said , opening our front door and walking outside . I made my way into the kitchen and threw a piece of bread into the toaster . The horn beeped after 30 seconds and I heard Steve scream .
" c'mon Daph ! You're gonna make us late !"
I sighed , slipped on my shoes , and headed out the door .
As I buckled up , Steve started driving to the ice cream shop . The ice cream shop is right in Hawkins brand new , big , fancy mall . And since it's summer , the shop has been getting a lot of attention recently . After a minute or two , Steve turned on the radio .
" YEAH GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN" He belted . Me and Robin broke out into laughter and started singing with him between our giggles .
