Erica Shinefield had a fiery personality. It only made sense that fire was her obsession. The way smoke curled whenever something burned. It's looping, curling structure climbing the air and then dissipating. The way the fire crawled over an object, turning everything behind it to ashes. She sat in the middle of a green field, with a lighter in hand. Little did she know that very lighter was something that would spark something beautiful. It was a curse, so to speak. But a rather helpful one. She picked a piece of grass from the field, turning it over in her hands. "It's a wonder how something alive now, can be destroyed in mere seconds. " She thought aloud. A flame burst out of her palm and destroyed the piece of grass. Elizabeth jumped back, the ashes falling out of her palm and dusting her clothes. "W-what...was that!?" She asked herself. "I didn't even use the lighter..." She picked another piece of grass from the field and held it between her index finger and her thumb in a pinching-like form. Just within seconds, a flame formed at the tip of her fingers and incinerated the blade of grass. Where had this newfound power come from? Why does she have it? All of these questions fluttered around in her head. Like paper airplanes flying around a third-grade classroom. "Erica.." A soft, sweet voice drifeted from the distance.. It was that of a child's. Erica stood, well more so jumped... "This is getting freaky.." She said, her voice wavering. A trail lifted up, almost seeming to lift out of the dirt. It was a line made completely out of red smoke. Erica decided to wearlily follow the path.
"Good choice, girl...." That voice again... "Where is it coming from???" She wondered. She continued to follow the smoking path. Erica crawled through vines and trees, walked through mud puddles and passed small lizards. She decided not to go around anything. In fear that she will somehow loose the path and end up lost in the forest.
The path had ended. Her worst fear came true. She had always tried to avoid the forest so she wouldn't get lost and now this happened. The trail slowly dissipated into thin air...
She was alone. Or so she thought.
