Every breath felt like fire. Each breath they took as they ran, were burning them. Slowly they were losing hope. Slowly they were slipping into the dark.

They could hear the yells and shouts as their tormentors chased them. But they were small, so they could hide in small places. They had to be fast though. They had been running for a while now, Emilio didn't think they could run for another fifteen minutes.

“We need to hide," Emilio urged, “Like right now” He could see them gaining upon them. Emilio couldn't, wouldn't allow them to take them back to that horrible place. Even if they took him back, he wouldn't allow them to take his siblings, neither his sister nor his brother.

“There” Ariana pointed to an alleyway where they could see a car. “C'mon, behind that car, I can see a street" The triplets rushed towards them, barely making it before David and Melissa Parker turned to the alleyway.

They ran out of the alley, not caring where they would end up. They ran for almost twenty minutes before somehow ending up in a parking lot. There were only a few cars in the lot. It was basically almost empty.

“Start searching for someone” Lorenzo ordered and started knocking.

They didn't stop. They needed to get help. Fast. So they began knocking on each window. But no one was inside. They were about to give up when a car door opened and a boy who looked no older than 17, stumbled out with disheveled hair, red rimmed eyes and looking pale. He leaned on the car and closed his eyes tightly.

Lorenzo saw this as an opportunity to get help. He ran over to the boy, Emilio and Ariana hot on his tail.

“Can you help us? Please! Call the police please! There are people who are trying to kidnap us" Lorenzo started with pleading eyes. The boy, now thinking back, realized he should have recognised them. Should have recognised those eyes. He regrets the times he was too lost in his head to realize the things that were right in front of him all along.

The boy, who now is known as Alexander to Ariana as she grew older, looked at them as if he couldn't believe what was happening. He decided it was a game and that these kids were just playing.

“Please,” Emilio pleaded, now urgently when he saw David standing at the other end of the parking lot staring at them. At him.

David started matching towards them and Ariana now started to tug on Alexander's arm. He looked at her and then at that moment realized that they weren't playing.

He looked at the man, who the boys were staring at with panic stricken features. The man was now standing in front of them, a smile that looked so fake formed on his face.

“Hey kiddos, let's go. Your mum's waiting for us in the car” The man said with fake sweetness oozing out. The way it was said, made Alexander raise an eyebrow. He could smell the fakeness.

“Hey kid, y'know this man?" Alexander asked the boy who was standing protectively in front of his young. “No” came the boy's reply.

“You heard him. Now back the frick off, before I lose my peace of mind” Alexander glared at the man who was now slowly losing his  facade.

“C'mon, y'know me, I'm your pa" “No you're not” Ariana said from behind Alexander, regretting the words when she saw David glare at her.

“Screw off, you tool. They said they don't know you”

“Stay out of my business and give me the damn kids!” David growled at the boy who had the audacity to threaten him. “No" The nonchalant response of the boy only angered him further.

“You're asking for it now, boy!” David's angered voice only pissed off Alexander more. “No, you listen to me. I've had a hell of a night and now you, a grown man, is chasing three children? That's so immature and low, even for you” Alexander cast a disgusted look at him.

“Now here's what we're gonna do-” He started, picking up a random metal rod that was lying near his feet. He flexed it and passed it from one hand to another, weighing it. “-you're going to back up and clear out of here as quickly as you can and these kids are going to come with me. And if you don't, you'll have to leave with a few missing teeth and a bloody nose ”

Glancing at the metal rod, David's eyes widened with fear, before he began to back up a bit.

“Keep it moving” Alexander hollered at him with venom filled in each word. A flicker of a smirk on his face caught Alexander's attention. Not even a second later, a muffled scream came from behind him.

His eyes quickly swept over to the kids, only to find them missing. Heart beating out of his chest, he quickly turned to the source of the sound, only to see a grown woman muffling the girl with her hand.

His eyes locked with two bodies on the floor. They were bleeding. Something came over him in that minute, and before he could think about it, he slammed the metal rod hard on the man who was trying to drag away the kids.

The man fell face forward on the floor. “I told you to back up, didn't I?” He got in front of the boys and wrenched the girl out of the woman's grasp. “You good kid?” His eyes flashed with concern as his eyes met Arianas'.

Trembling from head to toe, she gave him a nod and  her grip on his hand. “Why don't you check if your brothers are alright? While I deal with them? Hmm?” His eyes ever so slightly softened at the harsh edges.

“Okay” she mumbled, crouching down to check on her brothers.

Alexander's eyes lost all concern and softness when his eyes swept back to the couple who looked pissed off.

“You're going to wish you never met me” He sneered at them, letting out a bitter smile. He punched the man straight to the jaw, making him stumble. He continued punching him, until he was on the floor bloody and bruised, only stopping when the woman let out a high pitched scream and a familiar voice started shouting.

“You don't hurt kids!”
