⊱ ─ Board Meeting ─ ⊰
It was time for the board meeting and Daisy was feeling slightly nervous. The Ducks stood across the room from Varsity who were smirking at the JV team attempting to intimidate them. Dean Buckley cleared his throat, "Do I have a motion for reconsideration?" The room stayed silent as no one raised their hands making the team sigh. "I'm sorry, Coach. But unless there is a motion from a board member and a second, the decision must stand," Dean Buckley explained with a fake frown. Orion sighed as Daisy and Charlie smirked at each other. "You leave us no choice but to bring in our attorney," Orion announced.
Bombay walked into the room, "As counsel for Coach Orion and the freshman hockey team, I'm here today to set forth your legal options, so that you may make the best possible decision for all parties concerned." Bombay stopped next to Dean Buckley who sighed, "Mr Bombay, this isn't a legal proceeding." Charlie grabbed Daisy's hand as they smiled watching Bombay work his lawyer magic. "Not yet, but I can assure you, it will be. Do you mind?" Bombay asked Dean Buckley.
Bombay handed Buckley his briefcase before pulling out on of the scholarships, he held it up. "These scholarships, an offer, became the binding contract upon the signature of the recipients, an acceptance by the Ducks. They cannot be voided except for cause which, I guarantee you have none," Bombay stated. "Should you decide to pursue their cancellation, I will slap you with an injunction. I will tie this matter up in court for years, until long after these kids have gone to college," Bombay continued.
Daisy and Charlie looked at each other, both of them were impressed by Bombay once again. "And I will collect damages. I will win. Because I am very, very good. You know why I'm so good? Because I had a good education, you gave it to me. And you're going to give it to these kids," Bombay continued as he paced. "He is good," Orion said to Charlie and Daisy. "He is just getting started," Charlie replied with a smirk. Daisy nodded as reassurance before she smirked over at Riley who was no longer smirking.
Bombay was far from done. "Now, some of you may be snobbish enough to believe that these Ducks don't belong at Eden Hall. Let me tell you, you're dead wrong. These are remarkable young people. You give them their full shot, and I promise you, they will succeed," Bombay said as he looked to the team, each of them smiling at him. "Not only on the ice, but in the classrooms as well. These people are my friends, and I know what they can do. Accordingly, I demand that you reinstate their scholarships for their benefit and your own," Bombay finished before moving to stand next to Orion.
The board members began whispering to each other, Daisy tightened her grip on Charlie's hand as she nervously watched them talk. "It'll be alright," Charlie whispered to Daisy who smiled up at him. One of the board members sighed, "I move that the scholarships be reinstated." Buckley nodded, "Is there a second?" Another board member raised their hand. "All in favour?" Buckley said. All of the board members raised their hands. "Scholarships reinstated," Buckley said causing the Ducks to cheer and clap.

Daisy and Charlie hugged before hugging Bombay. "For Hans, guys," Bombay whispered to the young couple who smiled in response. They all walked out of the room, Bombay stopped Daisy and Charlie. "I've got some business in Chicago, but I'll be back soon. If you two need anything, give me a call. Okay? I mean it!" Bombay told them. "Yeah, thanks again, Coach," Charlie said and shook his head. "See you soon, Coach," Daisy said with a knowing smirk as they hugged.
Linda and Benny approached the couple. "Pretty impressive Coach, huh?" Benny said making Charlie and Daisy smile. "Yeah, he's legendary," Daisy answered back. "I'm glad you two worked things out, by the way," Linda said with a kind smile as Benny wrapped an arm around her waist. "Thanks, we needed the little refresher," Daisy said making Charlie laugh. "Congratulations on destroying our school," Riley said as he approached the Ducks, his team and the cheerleaders behind him. "It's everyone's school, dumbass," Benny stated.
"No, it'll never be your school. Don't you get it? You're our little affirmative action, brought in for color to entertain us, but you couldn't even do that. Your fancy lawyer kept you in on a technicality, but you'll never belong," Riley snapped. "You'll never be anything more than a bunch of rejects here on a free ride," Cole added. Daisy stepped forward and laughed, "Free ride?" She laughed again and the team stepped back slightly knowing that evil Daisy has made an arrival.
Daisy shook her head, "Look at you, rich boy. You'd be nothing without your daddy's money giving you everything you possibly need. Except their love and attention, of course. But news flash, we worked hard to get here. And I can clearly tell that you didn't, I don't even think you could've gotten here like we did. So, use that single brain cell for once and think before you speak." Everyone was silent as Daisy winked at Riley before letting Charlie wrap his arm around her waist.
Riley cleared his throat after a beat of silence, "Look, JV-Varsity game is on Friday. Then we'll show the whole school what a joke you really are. Then maybe you'll leave on your own. It'd be the honorable thing to do." Daisy laughed. "You know we're gonna hurt you," Cole added, his glare focused on Daisy who had her bitch face on. Charlie scoffed, "Listen, you guys had an unfair advantage last time. You had one of us, Banksy." Daisy nodded as she smiled at Adam, the two had talk after the last game the Ducks played.
Riley rolled his eyes, "Oh, well, keep him. He never had the heart of a Warrior anyway." Daisy yawned completely bored of Riley's attempts to be threatening and Riley hated it. "Hey, biff. One more thing. After we beat you, the Warriors die, and the Ducks fly!" Russ added before high-fiving Daisy who nodded in agreement. "Hey, anything you say, loser," Riley chuckled as he walked away, his groupies following behind him. "Good move, Russ. Make 'em even madder," Averman said making Daisy roll her eyes.
"Hey Averman, they get blindsided angry, remember?" Daisy asked. Averman thought for a moment before nodding at her with a smile. "Charlie, we gotta do something, man," Fulton said. "Yeah, you're right," Charlie answered as he looked at Daisy before turning to Fulton, "Let's get to work." The team made their way to the rink for practice. There was no way they were gonna lose this game, it was all or nothing for them and they needed to be ready. It wasn't for them, it would be for Hans.
