Chapter 17 Zero year.

Y/ns pov

It was a night like any other. Me and eri decided to take some time off from the leauge to patrol Japan. After all. We were still batman and robin. So we were still in charge of protecting Japan. Right now the 2 of us have just arrived at a crime scene.

Y/n: "commissioner. What's the situation?"

Barbara turns to look at me and eri before leading us into the old abandoned power plant. As the 3 of us enter I notice that the walls are covered in question marks.

Y/n: "No....this can't be possible."

Barbara: "Thats what I said also but it fits his m.o"

Y/n: "Riddler has been dead for years..."

Eri: "Uhhh...guys you might wanna see this."

I nod and walk over to see what eri is looking at. Only to see one of Riddlers famous puzzle boxes.

Y/n: "Eri...get back."

She nods as she backs away from the puzzle box. I pick the box up and open it. I start to read the clue out loud.

Y/n: "I'm alive without breath and cold as death. I am never thirsty but always drinking what am i?"

Eri and Barbara start to think. But I already knew the answer.

Y/n: "Fish...the answer is fish."

Just then a projector turns on showing an old man. Who looked like he was in his 70s. He was holding a Cain along with wearing a hat with a question mark on it.

Riddler: "Well well if it isn't the dark knight. I'm glad to see that even 70 years later your still around to solve my riddles."

Y/n: "nygma what did you do?"

Riddler: "you see you have grown soft...its almost like your a totally different batman."

Y/n: "Your right...im not Bruce wayne."

Riddler: "Ah so your an imposter. Someone trying to live up to batmans legacy. Well I'll have you know that I won't allow this. So instead of putting you through my normal riddles I have created my biggest riddle yet..."

Y/n: "Oh really where is it?"

Riddler: "it's right here.."

Just then a TV turns on showing Japan as bombs start to go off all around the city. Most of the bombs were targeted at power plants and grocery stores. Basically riddler was targeting anything that humans regularly used. Such as stores power plants purified drinking water plants ect. He Basically turned Japan into a lawless country. A criminals paradise.

Riddler: "Welcome to zero year batman!"

The TV shuts off. So does the projector. The whole city was on fire. People were looting. Pro heros were being overwhelmed due to the rioters.

Eri: "Batman we need to go now!"

I nod as me Barbara and eri escape the old power plant. Just in time. The building explodes after we escape. But it's too late the damage has already begun zero year has just started. People were rioting cops and pro heros were being killed left and right due to the survival instincts of the civilians.

Y/n: "Barbara get back to the police station. Create a perimeter and hold out until this is all over. Eri your with me!"

Eri nods as we both make our way back to the batmobile. And we head back to the batcave. Once me and eri get back I pull up the bombing locations only to see that there were bombs all over Japan riddler detonated them all and Basically caused all of Japan to have a black out. He also bombed the water purification plants Basically taking us back to the stone age.

Y/n: "riddler just turned Japan into a state of anarchy...we need to stop him."

Eri: "But we have no idea where riddler is hiding. Should I call in the leauge?"

Y/n: "No the leauges off world right now. However u.a and it's students might be in danger. We have to get to them before anyone else does."

Eri nods as we both head to the batwing. We had to stop zero year before riddler does something else.
