Syverson POV

Well, I suppose I couldn't expect anything else from this god damn weekend.

"Matt, Olivia," I greeted them with a nod as I tried to walk into the elevator. Mika didn't move. She was like a deer in headlights, and to be honest, so were the bride and groom. I put my hands on Mika's hips and guided her into the car.

"Hey," Mika said quietly.

Matt for his part at least attempted a smile. Olivia just glowered as she stood by Matt and put her arms around him possessively. I rolled my eyes, her transparency was laughable, only showing Matt affection because we were there.

I kept hold of Mika and I turned us around to face the slowly closing doors and put my nose in her hair. I could still smell the shea butter from when she washed it yesterday. I hummed, remembering how the scent of her hair filled my truck, back when I had no idea this weekend was going to turn into this mess.

"You look lovely Olivia, your dress is beautiful," Mika said and from what I could tell she was being sincere. I held her tighter, impressed with her kindness, it was more than that bitch deserved. Olivia was wearing a short white dress with some shit bulging off one shoulder. I thought it was hideous.

"Thank you, Mikaela. I had it made for today," Olivia said haughtily. Then she looked Mika up and down in a way that made me want to slap her. "Your outfit is..." she deliberately paused then said, "nice."

I could feel Mika's shoulders slump. I couldn't let Olivia get away with that shit so I said, "I think so too Olivia, it's my favourite. Isn't it, Chicken?"

Olivia snorted as the elevator pinged, and as usual the doors took their sweet time to open. "What's so funny Olivia?" I asked.

"What kind of nickname is Chicken?" Olivia asked. "What does she call you, Noah? Rooster?" Olivia laughed.

The doors opened, I put my arm out to indicate 'after you' to Matt and Olivia. I tried to bite my tongue but Olivia's smug grin made me furious. I smiled at her as she went past me and replied very seriously, "Sorta. What she actually calls me is her Big Cock."

"Sy!" Mika covered her face with her hands. Then she said to Olivia and Matt, "I don't actually call him that."

"I'm sure you don't," Olivia said. "I'll bet you've never even seen it." She turned, grabbed Matt who was looking gobsmacked and they disappeared around the corner.

I chuckled and turned Mika around so I could look at her. "Don't let her get to you Mika," I said. "Girls like her can't hold a candle to you." Mika's cheeks slowly bloomed with colour. She looked beautiful like that but she dropped her head covering her face with her hair. I lifted her chin and tucked her hair behind her shoulders. "Don't hide your pretty face from me. I like looking atcha."

"She knows exactly where to stick the knife in," Mika explained. "I feel like it's ten years ago and living through all that shit again."

"But it's not and you ain't," I said. "Why don't you look at it this way, at least you didn't have sex with him before you found out what an asshole he is."

Mika laughed, "You know, I never thought about it like that." She thought for a moment before she spoke again. "I can't believe I never thought about it like that. Thanks, Noah."

"There's that smile," I said. "There's my girl. C'mon. Let's have us a drink to settle down." I took her hand and lead her into the function room.

We were a tad early and there weren't many people around so we couldn't slip in unnoticed. I lead Mika to the bar as quickly as I could but before we got there I was intercepted by my Uncle.
