...

Chained and bound. Defeated and brought down. Gaster found himself in utter despair.

His friends.

His family.

He lost them.

And all because of that one cursed human. But could he even call him that at this point? Is there any humanity left in him anyway?

"So anyway Doc..."

And now he dares to stand in front of him.

Eyes shining with blood, hair dark as his shadow, and no trace of his heart left.

Erick Kenway.

"I got a question for you. I always considered you the smartest person I know, so surely your answer should be one I will find satisfying."

Staring him right in the eye, no restrain, nor remorse. Such a brute he was.

"Does the thought of dying scare you?"

What an empty tone. As if he was asking something casual.

Gaster didn't even bother to look him in the eye, he just threw his glare away.

"Tch. Is that your plan for me, Erick? Go ahead then. Just finish what you started."

At this point it doesn't matter anymore to him.

"Did I say I was gonna kill you? If I was after your head they would be cleaning up it's dust from the floor by now. I simply asked a question, no more, no less."

...

"I've seen death before, Wingy dings. Be it peaceful or gruesome."

"..."

"And since I've seen it myself, it made me think about it. It makes you realize a lot. And I came to a dark conclusion. While of course, one should do their best to keep on living, and enjoying their existence as much as possible, death is not something we can escape. We run from it all the time. Some are born in luckier circumstances, while others are brought down by their misfortune. But in the end, we cannot escape death. Death itself is part of life. So say doctor, why would you fear something so natural."

...

A smile formed on the skeleton's face.

"Let me tell you something, Erick. There may be monsters on this earth. There are some awful, some good. But regardless, in the end. YOU are the real monster here!"

"...Heh."

As he turned to leave, the man gave the monster one last look.

"... You'd expect smart people to tell you new things."

...

The boy named (Y/n) had always been so abnormal. There was this strange atmosphere that followed him everywhere he went. It was the first thing Gaster had noticed when they met.

"How could this be... Are you hunting me still, Erick?"

That's right. It was because of his connection with that man. The man who did everything. That awful BEAST!

"To think I'd meet him of all people. Is this fate or am I cursed?"

It would explain so much! The fact that he did not imagine something like this earlier shamed the brilliant scientist.

Who else had so much LOVE gathered? It just had to be him.

"I'm keeping my eyes on you, (Y/n)."
