You sat in Min Ji's car, stunned. Things definitely did not go as expected. You thought back to just a little while ago, when you and Min Ji had stood in the front step of your house.

"Don't worry Chang Mi," whispered Min Ji encouragingly. "Just let me talk, ok?" You nodded and gulped. The front door opened, showing your mother, who looked irritated as usual. "Why are you knocking? You live here-" Her words cut off abruptly as she saw Min Ji. "Hello Mother," said Min Ji calmly. Your mom could only stare with her mouth wide open. Suddenly, her face changed. You cringed, expecting to hear a verbal attack, but you were not prepared for what came. "Min Ji! My darling! Oh, my daughter!" She gushed. You opened your eyes wide, completely surprised. Min Ji also looked slightly taken aback. "Oh dear, come in, come in. Why, we've missed you so much," she sobbed, and dabbed at her eyes with a tissue. For some strange reason, you felt disgusted with her behavior. 'They kick my beloved sister out, then just welcome her back? She seems so hypocritical.' You thought to yourself. Min Ji smiled stiffly as her mother hugged her, yet didn't hug her back. Min Ji strode in the house, and you followed meekly.
To make a long story short, you left, hoping you would never come back. Your Mom had ranted and screamed, begged and pleaded, but your father was adamant. "She's useless. Why keep a useless person around?" You felt nothing inside. Empty, not wanted. The only reason your mother wanted you was to do chores and take care of Na Mi. You packed your bags quickly and quietly. Min Ji was already outside. As you slipped on your shoes at the front door, Na Mi appeared. You smiled, uncertain of what she would say. She smirked. "I'm glad you're leaving. Your were annoying anyway. I hope you know that they love me most, right? Don't ever come back." You staggered backwards in shock. It felt as if she had just stabbed your heart. Min Ji opened the door, her eyes small slits. "You're a brat Na Mi," she hissed. "I hope I never see you again. And I hope you realize someday how much me and Chang Mi mean to you." Min Ji grabbed your wrist and stomped out the door.
Now you felt a mix of emotions. Happiness, fear, sadness. It was all jumbled up. Min Ji got in the car and sighed. "Hey. Are you okay?" Without meaning to, your eyes welled up, and spilled over your cheeks. "I'm okay," you whispered. "Oh honey, you're not," said Min Ji. She grabbed you in an awkward over-the-car-rest hug. "It'll be okay." She whispered, stroking your hair. "It's over now."
As you got out of the car, you stared around you. She lived in a relatively nice apartment complex. You walked up to the door behind her as she unlocked it.
"Ta-Dah! Home sweet home," Min Ji announced. You looked around in awe. The front foyer was white carpeted, with a coat rack sitting to the left. On the right, a large tiled kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a kitchen island with 3 chairs that swiveled. In front of you was a oak dining table with 6 place settings. Farther back was a leather black couch with a flat screen TV hung on the wall, and a round glass table that had a small photo on it. "It's kind of small," Min Ji grimaced. "Your room is right over there. Go straight, turn left, the turn left again," she instructed. "Thanks" you breathed. As you came in, your eyes filled with tears. The room was a beautiful spring green color. Against the wall was a pullout bed that had bright spring sheets and a comforter on it that was yellow. There was 2 large windows on both sides of the bed, a love-seat under one, and a desk under the other. On the other corner against the wall was a vanity white vintage table and a white vintage dresser. Min Ji came in and leaned against the door. "I hope you like it, are these still your favorite colors?" You said nothing and turned around to give her a big hug. "Thanks so much," you mumbled into her sweater. "Welcome." She smiled. "I'll make us some lunch."
'So this is it." You thought. 'My new home.'
