All of a sudden I couldnt help but wake up with a jolt. I look around and for a second I am blank and then it all comes crashing down. I look towards my side and Ella is still looking after kids. They are still asleep. She sees me awake and gives me a soft smile.

"How are you feeling now?"

"I dont know but better. Thank you for what you did back there, I really needed that."

"We all do. Its been very hard."

"Where were you guys headed? Before all this I mean?"

"I was taking the kids go see their grandparents. Its been a while but who knew things would turn of this way. Im just worried, hopefully we reach somewhere safe until everything settles down. Hopefully."

She looks at her children with worried eyes. I couldnt help but wonder how hard it must be for her, putting up such a strong front and being there for children even though deep down, I knew she was just as scared and worried as I was.

"Your husband? Did you try contacting him before we left? Is he safe?"

"Max passed away three years ago while still in service. Since then its just been us. Drake has taken upon himself to be the man of the house ever since then. Its very cute how protective he is."

She couldnt help but give a soft and sad smile looking at their faces.

I couldn't say or do anything but just hold her hand and give her a squeeze to let her know that she isnt alone. She looks at me and gives a smile. We continue talking about mundane things after that. I found out that she was an architect and she is a single mom whose whole world revolves around her children. Eventually Drake and Lilly woke up. They quickly became attached to me too. I always loved children and these two angels were such sweethearts. Anyone would just fall in love with them. They just looked like their mother. They had such gorgeous blue-grey eyes. Lilly had a cute golden brown hair like Ella while Drake had a little darker shade and Ella mentioned he looks more like his father Max. We didnt know how long our conversation and journey continued. People were still restless and scared. While for some we could see it on their face how relieved they were that they were not the ones on the ground that were left behind. Soon they started distributing a little food for everyone. The plane was carrying more in numbers than it was met to be and I guess this was when things started to turn for the worse.

As they were giving out the rations, it was drastically cut down for people who were travelling with children or if they were more than one member passenger. The people started getting restless and rough as they could see that the people were not getting a full enough for the hunger. As they came to us, I got a packet of food while Ella was just given two. Ella being the polite person she is, she tried to request and make them understand that since they are still children, this is not enough.

"Would it be possible to give one more or any other snack if its available? This wont be enough for the children. They haven eaten anything for hours now."

"I'm so sorry ma'am but the ration that is available is very limited as the number of passenger are more in number too. But I could ask or look around."

As soon that was told out, all of a sudden a very grumpy looking man started shouting.

"Hey! How is that fair. All of us are hungry too. And who told you bring those little pests."

Everyone gasps. How horrible can that man get? I couldn't hold it anymore.

"Hey! What do you think you are saying?"

"Well everyone has to eat here. Can we afford to give extra just because they are children."

By this, there were quite a few agreeing to him. While some just felt bad and other just watched. It is true what they say, the humans ugly side will only come in the direst situation. Before I could saying anything more, Ella stopped me by holding my hand, shaking her head.
