I stood up and stared into his eyes. "Don't lie to me."

He looked back into mine. "I'm not, Penny...she really is my daughter."

This angered me like fuck. He has a daughter and kept this from the most important woman in his life. And he decides to tell me after I gave him a part of me?

A thought struck me.

"Phoenix..." I sobbed. "You said she was two. We have been dating for three years."

He nodded, looking off into space. "My fucking god. You cheated on me!" I screamed, at this point not caring if anybody heard. "And you tell me AFTER I gave you the only thing left that I have?" I spat into his face.

"It wasn't my fault! We...we used a condom." He mumbled.

"Who cares if you used a fucking condom! You still had SEX with another girl! Is that what I mean to you? Am I just some filthy bitch who doesn't deserve you?!" I punched him in the face, smiling with satisfaction when I saw his nose start to bleed.

"You mean everything to me! And that girl was the one who was the filthy--" I cut him short with another blow to the face, this time a bitch slap.

"Then why did you fuck her and have a child with her?!" I snapped, hitting him one more time before I strided to the door and flew it open. I took a few steps out and turned around sharply. "I hope your happy with your desicion. Wait, this is MY desicion. We're over." He ran towards me and I slammed the door just in time - to hear his nose snap and him groan with pain.

*

I stood outside in the cool, damp air. I left without Pheonix, the one that had betrayed my trust. It was amazing how you think you know someone and they turn out to be a monster.

A honk from behind me startled me from my thoughts. I turned around and jumped back as a blue truck sped around me and stopped in front. "Hey, miss. Need a lift?" I looked down at my dusty hospital gown and my purse. I nodded, smiling an uneasy smile.

He swiftly jumped out of the truck and ran around to the other side. I followed him, unsure if I should trust him. He wore skinny jeans and a t-shirt with some holes, showing that he was probably on the road a lot. A guy with most likely no home, yet offering to take me to mine? That was kind of creepy, don't you think?

He opened the passenger door and waved a hand inside. "Sorry about the mess, miss. I've been on the road a lot." Just as I thought.

I pushed aside my worries and sat on the red faded seats, greatful that I can leave that bitch of an ex behind. He slammed the door and came back around and started the truck again.

"Where you headed?" He smiled at me through the mirror on the window. He had a bit of a french accent - oooo! Sexy! - and he smiled a lot. He seemed alright...

"Toronto. By the hospital." He nodded, taking a turn at a red light.

"I'm actually traveling to Toronto my self. I have some family there that I've decided to move in with...Dad kicked me out last week."

I nodded, understanding. "I'm sorry."

He smiled again, his white teeth shining and his brown hair fell into his face. "No worries!" He waved his hand. "Why are YOU going?"

He seemed to pry a lot. "Just going. Need to get away from someone." His smile turned to a frown.

"I saw you walking out of that hospital pretty angrily, miss. Mind if I ask what happened?"

There he goes with the snooping again! This guy was starting to creep me out.

But I didn't want to be rude, so I decided to answer. I prayed he wouldn't ask anything else, though. "Yea, boyfriend cheated."

He didn't say anything, just continued to drive. "Uh..." He started, after a while of awkward silence. "Any particular place you want to go, miss?"

I smiled. "No, just drop me off at the nearest phone booth I guess. And you can call me Sylvia, if you like."

He smiled in return. "Okay, Syyy-lviii-aaa." He souned it out. I guess he wasn't around the English language for long.

"I'm Luke. And nonsence about me dropping you off at the nearest park. Why don't you come stay with me for a while? As long as that's alright with you..."

I nodded, and I made myself a promise. If he did anything tricky or he made any moves, I was out of there. But I definately wouldn't go back to Oshawa, as long as he was there. I didn't care if my family missed me, but I couldn't face Pheonix ever again. Expecially after we did the dirty. "Sounds like a plan, Luke." I reached over and shook his hand.

Maybe I could start a new life here.

*

We parked in front of what seemed to be his house. It was ginormous! The house was painted a light black. Not black, but not grey. The shingles of the roof the the pannles on the windows were painted a orangish white. A long, slim chimney sprouted from the rooftop, blowing out puffs of smoke. We strided up the pathway, out feet clicking against the stones. The lawn was nicely mowed, flowers welcoming the warm air of spring.

He opened the door for me and I made my way in. The inside looked even better than the outside! The furniture was red velvet color and the rugs a different pattern than you'd normally see. There was a flat screen TV and a master bedroom, as I discovered as I was shown around - And the best of all - a huge kitchen. I love food and I love cooking.

Could this afternoon get any better?
