Mom didn't question why I decided to stay over the night when I got there. I don't even know how I managed to get there. Wherever my eyes would land, it feels like his figure would always be there.
I left Mom's place early in the morning because Manami-san said she needed some help on buying some stock of ingredients for the café. I just left a note on the table because she was sleeping soundly, it would be so disrespectful of me if I would wake her up just because I'm leaving.
The weather right now was not that good so I just used the train instead of the bus. It would be so much trouble if I arrive at the shop later than the time we agreed on meeting. I'm sure Manami-san is already there right now.
As expected, many people decided to use the train instead of the bus. The rain was still visible even if the window was slightly blurry. Everyone was quiet, minding their business as the train worked.
Not long after I got inside this train, I received a text message from her, saying she would be late because there was an accident on the road they were taking. I'm not even surprised that she would ride the bus. Manami-san is a good person, but sometimes I don't really understand how her mind works. She was my Mom's best friend since they were in middle school, that's why sometimes I think she really just accepted my application as one of her helpers in her café because I'm her friend's daughter. Well, I won't be really surprised if that was the real reason. She's also like a mother and a sister figure to me.
I just arrived at the shop on time, but Manami-san's absence was still pretty obvious. She's lucky I don't have a class today, if there is any I would be leaving her right away. Usually, after celebrating the Annual Student Fest, the university will let us rest for the next 3 days. As they should. They really pressured us so much that we barely had any rest. Not to mention their blabbers about the visitors that would attend.
"She sure took so long" I cannot help but to talk to myself. It is early in the morning, and instead of having a rest, I'm here waiting for her.
"Uh, excuse me?" a man approached me on the side, just by looking at him you can say that he's a rich one. Those striped purple suit along with his expensive looking watch. Damn, must be enjoying his life at 30's.
"Yes?" I answered, looking directly at his purplish orbs.
"Do you know where Matori University is?" he asked, his lazy eyes didn't even blink at once.
Geez, this guy is quite scary.
"Oh, that?" I pointed at the Architecture building as I averted my eyes away from him. He looks rich, but can he even read?
"That's Matori University's Architecture building, you can use that as a shortcut to go to the main building" I mumbled, eyes still fixated on where I am pointing.
"Oh, thank you, young lady" he said as he bowed right in front of me. I just nodded as a response as I watched his figure disappear. These past few weeks were scarier than any week that I had. I sighed as I looked over at my watch, it was already 8:52 and she is still not here.
Right after I looked over at the time, I heard a ping on my phone, indicating there is a new message. I quickly opened it, and there I read what I feared the most.
"(Name)-chan, I think I can't make it in time, so I'll just send you the list of the things you should buy. Don't worry, I'll open the shop right after you finish buying those, so that it would be easier to get them inside, I'm sorry again (Name)-chan!!! :'( " and after that message is the list. It was not that much, but the names were quite hard to pronounce. Yes, I'm a college student, but still, Art is my major, not Linguistics.
Right, I should have just stayed at home to sleep. This shit is literally harder than performing. It's been an hour and a half, but I only had the four things out of eleven that were listed. I never shopped something like this before, no wonder why I'm so bad at doing this.
It took a while for me to decide on whether I should ask for help, or just waste my time and energy on rummaging through this whole place to find everything that I needed to buy.
"Excuse me, are you having trou--" I didn't let him finish his words when I bowed down at him, still huffing out of exhaustion while looking at him with eagerness in my eyes.
"Please… help me find...these things…." I'm so tired of even talking. I'm desperate enough to go home and sleep again.
"Oh, let me" he stretched his arm as he looked over my phone.
"Hmm, I'll go back when I get those okay? Just wait here for a while" he mumbled, getting the cart from me as he rushed away.
I can't believe my desperation drove me to have such a shameful request to someone I don't even know. He even managed to get back in a short span of time, if I didn't ask for anyone's help, I'd be stuck on this store for a whole day.
"Here you go" he swiftly handed the cart as he smiled, his light blue eyes glistening as he said those words.
"Thank you so much, you saved my life" it's too exaggerated, but it's true. He just laughed at what I said before staring at me.
"Wait, I know you!!" he suddenly exclaimed, pointing his index finger at me as his mouth agape.
"Huh? Me?" I also pointed my finger at myself just like how he did. I can't even recognize him, so how can he know me?
"You are Mitsuya's sister right!? The one who is always staring daggers whenever Toman goes over to your house" he mumbled, the smile on his face didn't even left.
Ah, right. My brother was always busy with either gang or his club. It's surprising that his good temper would even lead him to join that kind of thing. Come to think of it, I don't recognize this guy in front of me at all. The one who I can remember were Hakkai, Kawata-san and Ryuguji-san.
Whenever I'm coming over at my siblings place, they would occasionally show up out of nowhere. They are like lost grass appearing just like that.
"I don't know you, I'm sorry" I apologized, bowing down my head as he suddenly stopped.
"You don't? It's me, Chifuyu. The one who you thought was a thief when we first met?" this guy is something else. He is ready to bring that up just to convince me that we knew each other.
"Just who in the hell would use the window to get inside a house?" I remember it all now. Nii-san's friends are always on another level of foolishness, but I envy him.
"See, so you remember it all now?" he asked, grinning just like the old times.
"You are making a weird face, as always" I mumbled, looking over at my watch as I sighed. It's already 12:19, I spent too much time on buying these things.
"Want to grab lunch?" that was all I can offer for the favor he did to me, also I'm not going to pay for it, Manami-san will.
"Wow, what a kind kid you are" clasping both of his hands as he smiled gleefully.
"I'm just returning the favor, Chifuyu-san" there was a light mocking on what I said, but I guess he didn't felt it.
"Oh, by the way. How are you and Hakkai?"
