HEARTBREAK WITH A SIDE OF REVENGE

Josie sat at lunch while Cassidy and Drew talked about the party later that evening. The girl obviously had no interest in the topic and she was reading the book in her hand instead. Cassidy had noticed this and she instinctively grabbed the book from her best friend's hand and placed it on the table.

"Did you hear anything that we said?" The girl knew Josie wasn't listening to their conversation by the way Josie sat there in silence. "There's your answer." Drew remarked as he drank from his water bottle.

"I don't get what the big deal is. It's just a party, why don't we just stay in and eat chinese?" Josie suggested as she grabbed the book from in front of her. "Because that's all you ever want to do, Jojo." Cassidy sighed in annoyance.

Cassidy hated how Josie always brought down her party mood. "I don't see what the problem is. We always go to the same party and do the exact same thing. The two of you drink and i'm stuck taking care of both of your asses."

Josie was always used as their designated driver and she hated it. She didn't like that the two took her out every Friday night just so she could be their babysitter. Sure, she was her best friend and his girlfriend but that doesn't mean she wants to take care of them consistently.

"It'll be different this time." The brunette knew the words coming out of her best friends mouth was bullshit. "That's what you said last time and the time before that and the time before that. I'm not an idiot."

"Hey, that's not fair, Josie." Drew scolded as he frowned at his girlfriend. "Whatever, I probably won't be able to make it since I have work tonight." The two rolled their eyes as scoffs left their mouths.

"You told me that you didn't have to work until Saturday morning. Did you seriously change shifts so you wouldn't have to go?" Drew asked with a tilt of his head.

"That's not very nice, Josie. We do everything you want to do and we even visit you at work and you can't even suck it up and go to the party with us for a few hours? Are you that selfish?"

This was their constant routine that made the girl agree to go to the party. They would gaslight her and make her feel bad for not wanting to go and manipulate her into going.

"I'm sorry, I'll rush over there as soon as my shift is over okay?" Drew and Cassidy smiled while the boy pressed a kiss onto Josie's temple. "That's my girl."

"I should get to my AP Chem class but I'll see you two after the party." Josie kissed her boyfriend before she walked away, passing Rory and Lane Kim on the way. "Hey Rory, hi Lane." The two girls greeted Josie back before she disappeared out of the cafeteria.
