This was the first time Betty had been here since that night and she wanted to face her trauma head on. So, she slowly started walking to where Augustine buried the body. All of the emotions from that night started to come back, but she had to keep moving. Even though she could feel the same dead leaves that Augustine was a stomping on a year ago.

Suddenly though she could see a guy in the distance wearing a familiar jean jacket. It couldn't be him. He died a year ago. When she started getting closer to the guy, she could start making out a few more details and without a doubt knew it was James.

"Shouldn't you be six feet under?" Betty questioned. She didn't want this to go away, she needed a way to make things right.

"I'm wherever you choose me to be." The guy said plainly. He looks exhausted like he hasn't slept in a year. His skin looked a lot paler and his once shining eyes were sunken in.

"You know, I'm not even mad anymore." She finally admitted. It took her a year of discovery and finding who she was to finally come to that conclusion. "I used to believe love would be burning red; love though is gold cause it's so rare."

"You and these metaphors that you get from reading all the time, remember that book you were reading when I finally asked you out freshman year?" James requested.

"Folklore And The Quest For Evermore by Taylor Bowery?"

"That's the one...." James said. He was pondering how to say the next sentence. "I was on my skateboard the day I died riding by your house, it was like I couldn't breathe, and I finally got there only to find out from your mom you were at the graveyard."

"So, you knew I'd be there?" Betty asked surprised. James shook his head in agreement. Betty knew he was about to break off his relationship with Augustine then if he showed that day. "Kiss me, I want the answers to my questions!"

Both Betty and James lock arms as they embrace for a long awaited kiss. The moment would be forever engrained in their memory for the rest of their existence. Even the crows that haunted the graveyard were croaking in delight for their happy moment.

With that Betty knew what she needed to do. With James by her side they walked slowly to the nearby river. They both took a deep breath and slowly submerged themselves to prepare for their eternity together.
