I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A TOUGH LIFE...

My parents abandoned me when I was born. Well, to be fair, my mom died of cancer when I was four and I never met my dad. I grew up in rough foster care homes. I was discriminated against for being gay. But, I was hoping to change that all. My name is Isabella Lopez. And I think I just found my biological father. I knocked on the door nervously, not wanting to know if I was going to like what I found.

He answered the door. My father. "Hello, how may I help you?" He asked me.

"Hi, my name is Isabella Lopez, and according to the DNA test I took, I think you're my father."

He slammed the door in my face. Yes, I was at a new school and I was living on one night stands. How healthy. I need something to keep me busy after school, so I decided to try out for the New Directions, the glee club."Hello ma'am, what's your name?" The director, Mr. Schuester asked me.

"Bella." I responded.

"Got a last name, Bella?"

"Uh, just Bella."

He chuckled. "Okay, show us what you got 'Just Bella.'"

The Forgotten-Green Day

Where in the world's the forgotten?

They're lost inside your memory

You're dragging on, your heart's been broken

As we all go down in history

Where in the world did the time go?

It's where your spirit seems to roam

Like losing faith to our abandon

Or an empty hallway from a broken home

Well don't look away

From the arms of a bad dream

Well don't look away

Sometimes, you're better lost than to be seen

I don't feel strange, it's more like haunted

Another moment trapped in time

I can't quite put my finger on it

But it's like a child that was left behind

"Okay Bella, thank you." Schuester cut me off.

"I don't get to finish?" I asked him angrily.

"We've got a lot of people to see."

"But I've been practicing." I defended myself.

"We've seen enough, thank you." I turned around, walked towards the band and pushed one of the music stands to the side.

"That's rude and unacceptable." One of them commented.

"I'll handle this." Schuester told him."Bella, come on, why don't you pick up the music stand?" He tried to reason with me.

I scoffed and walked off of the stage without picking the stand up.

I watched the next day as Schuester put up the list for the New Directions. One girl went up, smiled, and walked away. Man, was she hot. I walked up to the list and traced my finger down. I didn't make it. I crumpled up the paper and threw it onto the floor.

"You wanted to see me?" I asked Schuester as I walked into his office, just as Jake was walking out. I didn't know much about Jake other than he was a transfer student, but he seemed just like me. No strings attached.

"Yes, I wanted to talk to you about your audition."

"Do you have any idea how hard I worked on that song?" I asked him. "I was up for three nights getting it right, and you didn't even let me finish."

"Glee Club performs in front of hundreds of people. Some of them might boo you. You gonna throw a mic stand at them?"
"So I'm angry. I got a right to be. You don't know me. You don't know my life."

"I know your sister, Bella. Santana Lopez."

"Half sister." I corrected him. "Our dad had an affair behind her mom's back. Who knows how many other affairs he had? There could be fifty Lopezs in Ohio."

"Santana never mentioned anything about having a sister."

"She doesn't know. I get it. Now you know that I'm related to your girl, I'm good enough for your stupid club?"

"No. When I saw you were related to her, I realized how much good Glee Club did her. Made me want to take a chance on you. But you've got to get that chip off of your shoulder. And I interrupted your audition because I knew after the first verse that I wanted you in Glee Club. You're really good, Bella."

"You think I'm good?" I asked him.

"Yeah."

"No. I'm not changing. Besides, I don't know how much longer I can stick around."
