  I got ready for school exhausted from the night before Nick and I stayed up till 12 am texting back and forth about our plans for this evening. I got down the stairs as I rounded the corner to the living room. I saw my mother asleep on the couch in the same spot she always is. She probably got home a couple hours ago. I stared at her for what seemed to be the longest for what seemed to be a lifetime but was only a minute.

I pulled into the school parking lot to see Kate pull up a couple spaces down where she parked and got out so fast she ran up to meet with me. I closed my door and locked the car. "Becca honey you look like you have not slept a wink." i smiled at her "thanks babes makes me feel a lot better." she was cleaning under her nails when i looked over at her " no problem, so what happened why didn't you sleep?" she looked at me with curious eyes

I rolled my eyes and smiled "I was up texting Nick about our project.... And before you say anything it doesn't mean anything, we are just friends." I looked at her and her jaw was wide open. She closed it before speaking in a high pitched almost squeal.

"WHAT! And you withhold this vital information from me. How could you do that? I need details and knowledge, what exactly happened!" she grabbed my shoulders looking me dead in the eyes.

"Nothing happened. We have a project we have to perform for theater and we need to work around my schedule. I didn't withhold vital information. I wouldn't do that, it didn't seem like that big of a deal." I said, removing her hands from my shoulders.

"No, no this could possibly mean you two could fall in love and have crazy passionate sex, which you havent had since you are still the only 18 year old that I know thats a virgin." she said in bringing her voice down to a whisper near the end.

" Kate, how many times have I told you I don't want to fall in love,Love is a lie love isn't real. So stop nothing is gonna happen between me and Nick but a plain old boring friendship." I turned around storming off into the school, annoyed not letting her have another word.

Before I knew it, the end of the day was here and I didn't talk much through the day except for a little small talk but that's because I ended up passing out in theater class for a little bit and study hall. I was walking out to my car when Nick appeared next to me out of breath. "You walk really fast for no reason darling." he smiled at me and i got these butterflies in my stomach.
